He shouldn't be anywhere near the first team. Play those who want to be here.

This is where the "not being anywhere near the training ground" things comes in. I don't imagine, given Poch's history of quickly showing certain players the exit door quickly in the past ( Capoue / Ade etc), that if he was a real pain in training or around the camp he would be anywhere near the first team. I can only surmise that even though he continues to train well ect his heart is not really in it. But it is bloody heartbreaking

You're right, we have limited info. But I find it hard to believe he is amazing in training and then so utterly useless in games, at least against Liverpool. He looked like he couldn't be arsed.

Well I don't understand it either. At all. Because I doubt he is being signed by more elite club than us and if he is then he will be a bit part player. Such a waste / shame. I still hold him in huge affection

Supposedly he was the same in his last season with Ajax so maybe shouldn't be that much of a surprise how much his form has fallen off a cliff the past year after he made up his mind he wants to leave.

Going to be a shame seeing him loaned out by Madrid in less than 2 years, hopefully he ends up somewhere better than Everton

I mean that and Odegaard looks fucking ready.

I must admit it's been quite interesting watch everybody slowly realise he hasn't been performing well for a very long time now. Every time somebody dared to say he's not played well there was a tone in the responses that people didn't understand football if they didn't appreciate his understated brilliance. Now though it seems almost universally accepted that what we've over the past at least 10 months or so is a player who hasn't been at it. I won't be shocked to see him back at his best when he makes his new move though.

The amount of abuse I received because I called him out months ago was interesting. But he has been wank for a long time now. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Plus there are always THE STATS yeah don’t forget the stats baby :D

Has he ever showed up for a crunch game?

I doubt he’ll get his dream move to one of the Spanish giants even on a free and that’s mostly his own fault for putting in such poor performances the past year, especially on the biggest stage in the CL final which was the perfect opportunity for his to showcase his talents to prospective clubs. I think he’ll get a move to Juve or Bayern and he should consider himself extremely fortunate they’re interested ( only because he’s “free” ).

If it's true that his form was similar for Ajax in the final year, that does explain why he joined us back then as at the time it seemed like a real coup given our standing wasn't exactly first choice for a top young talent.

I haven’t watched this thread since the Liverpool game and wow what a scapegoat he’s become

I love Son but why didn’t he get half as criticised as Eriksen after the Liverpool game? He was worse defensively, barely helped Rose. Eriksen almost played RWB, problem was he couldn’t cope with Robertson pace

Now you guys just pick and choose who gets and doesn’t get criticised

Well they both had different roles for one. Son was being used on the counter, it was clear that Poch gave him minimal defensive tasks, the average positions show that and our the majority of our play came from his side.

The only silver lining at the moment is that he’s not locked into a long term contract with us at 350K a week unlike that sardine Ozil

Tottenham star Christian Eriksen’s move to Barcelona last summer reportedly fell through after Lionel Messi vetoed it.

The Denmark playmaker made no secret of his desire to leave Spurs this summer after the club lost the Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid.

However, Eriksen was unable to secure a transfer away from the club, with Spanish publication El Desmarque reporting that Messi blocked his move to Barcelona.

According to the report, Eriksen, who has also been linked with Real Madrid, was keen on the move and the Catalan outfit went as far as holding talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

A deal which would have seen Barca midfield pair Ivan Rakitic and Carles Alena go the other way in exchange for the playmaker is said to have been agreed.

Messi, however, was said to have opposed the transfer because he believes Eriksen ‘has not shouldered enough responsibility in big games’.

The breakdown in talks left the 27-year-old Dane in complete limbo, after reportedly pinning his hopes on a switch to the LaLiga champions.

Real, Juventus and PSG all remain keen on a move for Eriksen, however, and the player is still determined to leave either for a cut-price fee in January or on a free next summer.

Read more: Tottenham have reportedly stepped up their efforts to bring Barcelona star Carles Alena to the club in the January transfer window.
