You’ve just highlighted exactly what has gone wrong here. We need 2 x aggressive FBs and a world class DCM. £120M for the three. Sessegnon and KWP could be used this season to have a crack, who knows - with an extended run and the backing of the manager they might even flourish ... after all, isn’t Poch supposed to be a FB whisperer?

Think that'll be tough. Even the clubs awash with funds are looking in the U23 bracket for these players.

If decisive, Marc Roca or Florentino Luis are possible. If not, it'll be the likes of Ibrahim Sangare with a year left on their contract in the summer.

Mourinho was quite the politician when asked about how Spurs are doing on Skysports after the UTD game.

Been a billion years now mate. We've been talking about the future forever. It's already come and gone and we won feck all.

Good for you though keeping your hopes up (y)

I don’t think it has come and gone in terms of trophies. Based on league position we’ve been better than Arsenal for the past 5 years, but in that time they’ve won 2-3 trophies. I could easily see us doing something similar in the coming years, particularly if we end up with Mourinho...

If we don't get Allegri or Mour

let's bring Thierry Henry as caretaking manager. At least he could teach Sissoko how to strike on target

kidding

would be worth it for the melt down alone. He would 100% take the job too if offered haha. Even though he’d get us relegated.

I can't agree more. And I think many of the lads are damn disappointed. Not because we failed at last year CL, but really was the two seasons when we failed to capitalise on the league when we could have gone all the way and win it, or at least challenged it properly neck-to-neck.

The lads may think they have past their prime in fitness and maybe that's why they are really not putting any effort to Poch regime. But in terms of experience, they have grown quite a bit in maturity, and really now it's time we need some managers of pedigree. A manager who can motivate this lot that they still have what it takes to win something.

I really want Mourinho, but heck even if it is Allegri, I'll take it. We cannot take anymore project-based managers without a whole rebuilding of half a dozens of players. But even more so is we have a world class stadium, we need to act like a big team and demand success, not projects.

My worry is we go for ‘the next Klopp’ which is what the latest fad seems to be.

People absolutely wanking themselves silly over the Leipzig and Gladbach bosses. The likelihood of them being the next Klopp are very small.

I really think we need an established winner. No pissing about, proper trophies already under his belt and someone who commands respect off of 95% of the players he coaches.

Just know it’s going to be another project though.

Something like he still backs us up to finish 3-rd

Maybe that’s the remit Levy has given him, and we know he’ll back himself :sneaky:;)

Ultimately it’s rare to have two managers with the past success rates of Mourinho and Allegri both available at the same time, no releases to be negotiated. Shouldn’t we be looking to take advantage of that.
Mourinho has acknowledged he needs to adapt to stay current, and his ego to be the best suggests to me he’ll come back refreshed.
Allegri was semi successful at Genoa prior to getting the Milan job. He then took Milan back to the top of Serie A, breaking Inter’s dominance. Then took Juve to 5x consecutive titles.
No doubting they would command instant respect within our squad, a signal of intent. But will Levy go down that road knowing they’ll expect a certain level of support, and perhaps won’t be ‘Yes’ men.
The alternative is a lesser known ‘project‘ manager manager, which may fit better with Levy’s usual transfer policy, but will set us back 3 years or so within the current first team squad, as I dont think the Kane, Son etc type players will want to step back.
However staying as we are is also not looking like a viable option either. Much to consider for Mr Levy.

Mourinho... would be even harder to accept at Spurs than George Graham IMHO.
Yes, Mourinho fits the big cynical, arrogant and uncharming clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid. Agree. His style of play doesn`t match Spurs tradition as an attacking style of play club. That`s the clubs profile. And he`s probably not a long term solution. But, there has been good attacking football with Mourinho as manager too, he can bring silverware, and our defense needs his strict organisation. After all it`s strange and sad observing us wanting Poch sacked. Understandable though.

Graham was Arsenal through and through. Mourinho
What he say?

It was more the fact that he didn't rip into anyone in particular. Some were having a go at the players, others Levy whilst Mourinho just said that if a player wants out you just ship them out. He pointed to Robben leaving Chelsea for Real and stated that no one at Chelsea wanted him to go but Robben made the decision and once that happens it's best to just move on.

With all the links regarding him, I'm using his comments as confirmation that he thinks there is a chance he could come in and better not say anything now before anyone has given him a contract to sign.
