I've said it before and I'll say it again, there aren't enough supporters. There are plenty who claim to be, but they don't actually support. They just moan and swear at the players.

I thought the bent bashing was a bit much last night i didnt think he did that bad considering he didnt really get much service, he was winning headers most of the time and hit the bar!

I suppose it depends on one's definition of support or what they are actually supporting.

There are those who will attend just for the sake of it, boozing, being uncouth and dont give a monkeys about the players and will criticise, insult boo and occasionally cheer their performance, all in the excuse of having a good time with a view that all that matters is winning, regardless how it is done.

....and then there are those who love and support the club, respect the players despite their varying abilities and will applaud there efforts where warranted, win lose or draw.

Jesus Christ Ardiles, tackle him you useless twatt.

Appologise for my spelling, i'm at work and knackered.

Man, i was screaming my lungs out but in a positive way.
We are always gonna moan but i think you misread my post.

it was funny because they were telling chimbs to run forward then run back then run forward then run back. it was quite amusing.

I was up the top in the park lane

Hi TM - I sympathise so much - one of the main reasons I rarely go now is cos of the negativity of so many spurs fans

I went to the Semi final cos I guessed the fans would be up for that - and that was the case - but mostly it isn't

if only more fans could be like you (and some others including me) cheering the team when we are there - it would be so much better

but it ain't gonna happen I fear except on special occasions

yep Orkney - been listening to the negtativity since the 60s (vegetables - you're useless etc)

- when I was younger and starry eyed I could take it better - plus on the terraces you had more chance of moving to more positive areas

these days it just pisses me off so much

and it seems my fears that the boo boys/moaners are getting into Bent these days are being horribly borne out

just like those idiots who did their best to ruin JJ Lee Armstrong so many - well now they want to **** up Bent - why???????

You might laugh but I really do think Football Manager has a lot to answer for.

Then you get a percentage who think 'Bent cost x but isn't scoring a hat-trick every game', another small amount think we should play to the top of our form every minute every game and anything less is shite and if an individual cops it, so much worse for him. Taking the rough with the smooth, the good performance with the bad just ain't in the neighborhood let alone the picture.............But FM is the biggest culprit.

Its the problem with modern football. Every one sees highlights and its 'he's the greatest player ever' then you watch a full game and someone misses a chance, or they clear a ball down the pitch to no one, and people wonder why they couldnt pick out the lone striker who wasnt looking for the ball, was marked by three men, while they had two players pressing them in the corner and they were facing the corner flag.

When people look back everything is rosy. Andy Cole scored 40 odd goals in a season, but no one has a go at him because he missed a sitter in a three nil win at bolton.

I think some fans expect perfection every single second, and while yesterday we were not that good, and at times the players did need a bollocking for doing something crap, often some fans just pick out the negative in everything. Probably because they havent played a game of football in 30 years

Yea some people moan every single week. But there is another side to this coin also.

If the players aren't performing, then as a season ticket holder who pays close to a grand every season to watch Spurs home and away, I have every single right to shout my opinions that Zokora is a stroller, or Chimbo has a massive chip on his shoulder. I dont really care about the fans around me, im not there to make sure they have a pleasant night, im there cos im a passionate true Spurs fan who follows my team as much as I possibly can.

On cup games its so obvious to spot the fans that only go once in a while, cos like loads of them around me last night, they seemed to enjoy the way we were playing, or they stand up every single time we sing 'Stand up if you hate Arsenal', which over the years becomes a bit boring. I despise Arsenal, but I dont need to stand up every two minutes to show it.

I sing my heart out every game, celebrate wildly when we score, and I criticise when we play sh1t, in my eyes, thats the normal behaviour of a fan.

Twice.

The Bent-bashing was a disgrace last night. He worked hard and is clearly lacking any confidence. What do we do? Groan when he gets near the ball. Very clever.

One of the great things about the early days, was the ability to travel to away matches, without ticket restrictions. Between '67 and '80, the best games for support were the away games. I suppose it's the 'them against us' thing, but we never had a go at our players when we played away. Wouldn't give the opposition any opportunity to think we slagged our own. I'd like to think it's the same now.
But home has always been different. I don't go along with this 'I pay a fortune for my season ticket, so I can slag players as much as I want'. That's bollox. We've always paid loads for season tickets, when wages were a lot less than today, relatively speaking. I had a season ticket for 13 years and rarely missed a game, home and away, but apart from one player, who will remain nameless, never felt the need to slate our own.
A good friend of mine, played for the spammers in early 70's and he used to get it from certain parts of the home crowd. It got so he hated playing at home and did his best football away.
Shame is, it will always happen, that's the nature of human kind. Some people forget, that footballers are just like us at the end of the day. They have a gift, and are doing what they love, we are jealous, 'cause we would love to be in their boots and can't forgive them for having an off day or a shite game.
How many of us are on top form every day we go to work.

I find it pretty poor, that because of what other people do, you use that as a reason for not supporting the team you love, i personally dont care less what other people think, i care what the manager thinks and what i see through my own eyes, as a supporter you are entitled to voice your views because that is you opinion, but i for one would never let them stop me going to the club i love to cheer on my heroes, Even if they are crap, i will still cheer them on because they are playing for this great club.

I can see both points to be honest. Paying for your ticket does give you the right to voice your opinions ofcourse but last night was a perfect example, (jeering and groaning of Darren Bent), of how some so called supporters use this right in the wrong manor and instead of getting behind the team. use this energy to berate a player who already lacks confidence. Not good really
