I got 10th!

I had us 6th, Everton 3rd, Liverpool 8th, and Arsenal winning the league in April. Newcatle barely avoided relegation by beating Fulham in their only remaining win of the season. Lookint at it, I have my doubts :)

i heard on five live lastnight that england are top of the fair play league and if we stay there we will gain one extra place for the uefa via league qualification .

If thats the case what pos do you think we will have to finish in for qualification , bearing in mind someone from the top four almost invariably wins the F . A cup .

8th ?

I have the full table in Excel format for week 26 2006/07 but it appears as one string of text when I copy it into the message box.
Could someone please advise me how I can attach the file?
Thanks

Last season the gap wasn't as big, there were more draws in the league and not such a division from the top to the bottom half of the table. Even if we wen't on an awsome run, 5th is out of the question IMO. I'd take 8th right here right now!

they should give the runner up of the carling cup a uefa spot if the winner gets there or better anyway, it would give the competiton more edge and kudos.

8th too, interesting.

61 points I got us on.

Arsenal to win by 9 from United at the top - Everton to get 4th, and City to finish 6th, Villa 3 points above us on 7th.

We're all getting similar results. It's all very tight.

After 27 games at the same stage last season Bolton were 5th with 47 points the same that Everton are on now, while we were on 33 points. We were able to overhaul the 13 point gap then!

So doesn't look like the gap is bigger this year but in fact smaller as Liverpool and Villa are both on 44 points in 5th and 6th

You'd have to factor in what fixtures they had left though - not purely number of games. It could be that they had Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal away last time, but have Wigan, Reading and Fulham at home this time around. It's not a sure-fire thing - but it is a positive sign, and with the same group of players they know they've got it in them to do it.

But I still think we need snookers.

Exciting end of season at the top. Not the best result for us. Unless Pompey didn't apply for the Intertoto cup we wouldn't qualify for Europe. (Wouldn't matter since we'll win the CC and Uefa Cup).

First post so be gentle with me

I found this site which holds archives of sites, so I managed to find the bbc site from the 11th February 2007. It shows the table after 26 or 27 games

http://web.archive.org/web/20070217161720/news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/default.stm

Two obvious things spring to mind from that table.

Firstly, there were only a couple of teams on significantly more points than us and no immediate gap to the next team.

Secondly, the bottom teams were on a lot more points which shows the top teams are gaining a lot more points from them.

All this tells me is that whilst I can see us with a good run gaining places I would think 8th is the best we can hope for.

All we can do is go out and try to win each game and see where it takes us.

Sorry if thats a bit negative for a first post

Looking at stokesy's table:

In 2007 we were 10 points off 6th place.

This season we are 12 points off 6th place with a much better goal difference.

Anything is achievable until it's mathematically impossible. In the meantime we have some other business to take care of at Wembley which may make all the comparisons completely worthless anyway!

Luke is right, it's not about our position but the lead others have on us now that there wasn't last year.

I'd settle for 8th this season, but Europe whichever way, is a must.

It's not impossible, it's just very, very improbable

Now let me just check the infinite improbability drive...
