I am going to add in here when we played inter the first year in Champ Lge, I had a look before we played them on Forza Inter. On it the fans said they would beat us as they had Skrinrar and that was cheating, as he is so good. So I watched out for him, in fact we ended up playing them 4 times and all of the games it was very difficult to break them down. He really is very good.
Mate, what?

Weird. People are more positive on here about Milik than Skriniar. Having watched both of them a lot I actually prefer Skriniar in his position than Milik in his. Whenever I've watched Inter play he usually defends well and gets a lot of blocks in. He seems solid enough to me.

One thing I have noticed especially from his highlight reels is how he is an extremely proactive defender, often stepping up quite far from his defensive line to make a challenge. This may just be because he has the freedom to do that playing in a back 3 under Conte, but it means when he wins the challenge he can easily start a counter attack or lay the ball off to a midfielder to start a quick counter attack which would obviously suit our system very well

If the reports are true and we are putting a bid in for £45m plus add ons I think that's decent and good value.
My reasoning is Nathan Ake was signed for £41m and Skriniar is a far better player.
Napoli are demanding £70m+ for 29 year old Koulibaly and Burnley want close to £40m for Tarkowski.
Nelson Semedo just went to Wolves for £37m, including all the add ons.
Therefore, £45m-£50m for Skriniar isn't bad value at all. (If we have the money as reported)
He is still 25 years old and with Mourinho and King in the coaching setup, he can improve and his game is suited to the Premier League.
From the youtube highlights I noticed he used both feet, at least with some tackles and interceptions, so he could be adept at LCB or RCB.
I just don't know where the money is coming from, but if we sell Foyth, Aurier, Rose, CCV and send Sessegnon in loan, that will bring us close to balancing it out.

Especially if they still owe money for Eriksen and we can knock that off the price.

Alot of the best defenders in Italy were always Italians I know at one of the Int tournaments the entire 22 was made of players playing in Italy the only national team to do it, Few played abroad or came to the Prem. Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Panucci played in Spain
2006 World Cup! Weirdly I was just thinking about that. Everyone was on an Italian team, though I think Camoranesi was technically Argentinian in all ways excepting football.

If we’re so interested in Skriniar (at the prices quoted) then why not go for Upamecano? He’s the better player with more upside.

I’d think he’d cost more. But agreed. He’s a great center back and only 21

I would have suggested that too but I think he has already agreed to go to Bayern next summer... He has a release clause of 45m i think but that is triggered next summer..

Would love him but ain't gonna happen...

People will always have nostalgic memories of Toby & Jan which I get.

But to deny the fact he is past his prime is a glaringly obvious oversight. Yes he is still EPL quality, but not starting for a team aspiring for top 4 / silverware.
That’s fine but he is still a better CB than Dier or Sanchez.

If Toby goes we'll need a 5th CB (Monster?). Tanganga has been worryingly unavailable for too much of the time since his breakthrough. In an ideal world we'd do Skriniar and Dias in the same window, but that aint happening...right?

What you asking us for. You're the one called Hitch. Pissing about on here, get the mofo's signed up.

On Issa Diop Sky Kaveh tweeted in January that we were interested in signing him. With that in mind along with the ITK and the fact that Mourinho publicly praised him when he was at United suggests it could well have legs

even if he didn’t, still be quicker than dier and Toby

I really don’t think Toby is on the decline to quite the extent that some are saying here. Yes he’s had better days but i still see him as our best defender

Definitely our most consistent. I think it would be a mistake to move him on and we won’t. I think we need 4 centre backs (and tanganga) anyway. It’s a long season with a lot of games.

As others have said his experience is vital and throwing in an inexperienced player PL wise from Italy is asking for trouble. He’s going to need to be integrated slowly to the pace of the league. This isn’t football manager where you can swap one for another and nothing changes. Moving from Italy to England and being asked to cope with PL attackers pace and power is going to be a shock to the guy and he’ll need time to settle. If we sign him of course.

I'm not even sure he's suffering from a decline or if it's because he suited a high pressing team.

Remember we used to have Dier or Wanyama shielding the CBs and our FBs were so rapid to cover I think it may be helped him thrive more.

Any of our centrebacks are going to look a degree poorer without an out and out defensive midfielder in front of them. But we don’t seem to be in the market for one weirdly.

No idea where this 'lack of pace' nonsense eminates from, hes quicker than both Toby and Jan were at their peak when they formed the best centre back pairing in the division.

Also, he's plenty good on the ball, he just so happens to be a mean fucker too. the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Also, to the nutter who said Ledley didn't exactly have pace... you what? The guy ran like a gazelle.

He must of missed tackle of the century when King makes up ten yards on Robben - who was pretty rapid himself!!!

A great-grandfather, according to Wikipedia, which... ok, whatever. That win must have been the ugliest football a winner has played that I can remember.

Toby going makes sense (if true). Age 31, slightly past his best and at present, I believe Jose's 3rd choice cb. That would give us Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Skriniar (assuming Foyth is sold). Jose likes 2 players for each position and also Davies, if needed.
The mix is two strong leaders and two pacier players that play best beside a leader.
