I feel you have misinterpreted "glory" here.

As the late great Danny Blanchflower once said:
“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

With all due respect to the great, that quote has aged like milk.

It’s all good and well saying this when he in fact was a part of the last team to win a league title with us all the way back in 1961.

That’s 62 years ago. Some fallacy, eh?

It definitely seems a most 'un-Ange-like' tactic.
Yes. Ange wouldn't do that most of us are quite sure. My point was more on Ali Gold, being the so-called mouthpiece of the club, shouldn't write such speculative article with no truth ever to be found out, dividing opinions within the club and fans. Totally not needed at this juncture. Poor.

I knew at the first sign of adversity the negativity would start. The bitching and the moaning.

This guy has built a huge feel good factor in the fan base, and there’s people among us who clearly can’t wait to ruin it all.

It’s all a bit sad.
Agree, but I don’t think the vast majority on here go to games. The atmosphere and vibe in the stadium is best I’ve known in ages.
The next 6 games are going to be bumpy and possibly season defining, but it’s the way it is. I’ve not known anything like this injury wise.

With the injuries, if we can limp through to Jan ,until we get up to full strength and hopefully add to the squad ; I feel we can recoup and give the FA cup a good go and top 4 is definitely gettable what is for sure the DNA of the club (football wise )is being adjusted for the good .Please try and be a bit more optimistic.

You said top 4 wasn't enough and I said it was but it was the style of football that fans had an issue with. Not sure what you're talking about proving your point. Your point about top 4 not being enough was clearly nothing to do with our brand of football.
You posted "It's the style if play you can only accept if winning things. If you're challenging top 4 then you have to at least enjoy watching the team play"

That says to me that top four under Conte on its own was not good enough for some, it needed to be combined with a brand of football the fans enjoy watching. If that is someones opinion, that's fine, but it proves my point that top four under Conte was not good enough for some fans, they also wanted a better brand of football.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I'm kind of surprised - others may not be but normally Ali doesn't go in for hyperbole.

If that is the case, history shows us that Levy does not give a fuck and will always do things his way.
Not if Levy is made to believe that top 4 and it's glorious champions league cash are under threat if we don't invest appropriately

I'm jumping into the conversation a bit but wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed finishing top 4 under Conte and we were playing some great football.
It was a brilliant end to the season but then he imploded and everything went to shit.

That quote is part of the fabric of the club. This is what we are and what we should always be as a club. If you don’t like it and big names and tin pots is all your interested in go chase the blood money at whatever club it’s at at the time like the rest of the plastic fans.

Equally I could say if you are mostly worried about entertaining football, go and watch another team and stop dragging Tottenham down with your small time mentality.

I totally agree with @McFlash. That first half season under Conte was brilliant, Son was on fire and we played some great football and it carried over to the start of the next season. Then, who knows why, it all went hopelessly bad and became toxic.
Ange has got us off to a great start, better than any fan/supporter could have hoped for. Now, through no fault of his, it has started to unwind. However anyone must see the only reason for that is injuries and suspensions. We all knew the squad is limited, so losing the most influential players was bound to have a major impact. In the stadium we are all behind Ange, and on Sunday, even with the lesser players we played some fantastic stuff.
We must all keep the faith

What part of that quote says we don’t want to win? it just says we want to go out and beat the other team on the front foot not wait for them to die of boredom. The negative approach got us nowhere all it did was alienate half the fan base conte and Jose were the most toxic things to happen to this club I can remember and at a point where we were ready to kick on.

For me, first and foremost as a fan I want to see us play attractive entertaining football. This is what matters to me the most. Secondly, I want us to win things.

Appreciate that others may feel differently. And that's fine, your prerogative. But this is mine. Cheers.

I've come away from every loss or draw this season, maybe apart from Wolves, feeling really positive and thinking "we could've/should've won that".
Thinking that players have put in great performances and not really pissed off at a single one of them.

I haven't felt like that after a loss for a long time and there's a genuine feeling of change throughout the club.
It's nice to feel proud again.

Then you need to elaborate on that because honestly when you say "top 4 wasn't enough" that makes fans sound fickle. If that's what you meant then you should say top 4 alone is not enough. There's more to it than top 4 not being enough. Fans wanted to see something forming and a manager who was committed but Conte didn't sign a contract. Challenging 4th was not the issue fans had last season.
