Like I said 8 out of 9 subs named so one free spot on the bench that included 2 keepers. It's overlooking the academy no matter how you dress it up.
Why would he do that tho? Does he feel the players aren't ready or what's the story? I mean, if he's already identified dier et el as not being good enough or the correct fit, why would he overlook the academy?

I want us to win, over and above anything else. How we get there is secondary too me.

It’s glory glory Tottenham Hotspur, not entertaining entertaining Tottenham Hotspur.

We need wins and inevitably trophies to justify that chant, that’s what glory entails at the end of the day.

FWIW I’m happy with Ange, but as always bitterly disappointed that we’ve once again been left short after a few injuries and suspensions. Is adequate squad depth too much to ask after not having any for like 5-6 seasons now? I don’t think so.
I feel you have misinterpreted "glory" here.

As the late great Danny Blanchflower once said:
“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

If that is the case, history shows us that Levy does not give a fuck and will always do things his way.

Interesting but it seems very un-Ange to use that sort of subtle tactic.
I would've thought he's the type to tell Levy straight up how it is.
He's not the Jose type to send coded messages and play mind games, he's Australian. 😁

I knew at the first sign of adversity the negativity would start. The bitching and the moaning.

This guy has built a huge feel good factor in the fan base, and there’s people among us who clearly can’t wait to ruin it all.

It’s all a bit sad.

Yep. And we know exactly who they are. As they don't come out unless shit gets bleak.

Tbh mate I don’t think that is fair, our injuries and suspensions have been like nothing we’ve ever witnessed before and just as we get arguably our best player back after 9 months out with an ACL he is now out for another 3 months due to a horrendous unnecessary tackle, add to that we didn’t sign a back-up CB and we have Sarr,Bissouma and Son all away for 2-5 games in Jan/Feb, it’s not a case of when it rains it pours it’s a case of when it rains it fucking monsoons on Tottenham Hotspur.

Our fans are just tired of it mate, no one is unhappy with Ange we are all over the moon with him but we know the reality which is with all of these injuries and suspensions Ange’s hands are completely utterly tied until realistically February and after such an incredible start to the season that is a bitter pill to swallow especially when the league looks fairly wide open this season.

We will keep getting behind the team and Ange but the reality is we are in the middle of a shit storm right now with no sign of it being over anytime soon.

I don't want to make this post about Levy, but I genuinely feel Ange is trying to make a point about the senior squad players not being good enough to play his brand of football.

I also think he knows some of the youth are good enough, but if he is to blood them and they do turn out to be decent. Does that then mean Levy will hold back on additional signings in January if he believes the youth can cover the positions of need?

So what better way to point out to Levy that these second string are definitely not good enough by picking them and making it obvious they can't play his system? Giving Levy and Co the push needed to get rid of them quicker and give him players he can use for his system instead.

This also doesn't mean he shouldn't blood the youth, he most definitely should give them a chance. But it's the Levy factor here which is a major factor when it comes to signings. If we had a better chairman who gets the football side better and invests on the team regardless of youth, then this wouldn't be a big issue. This is all just my take on it all.

You’ve obviously not read the whole thread. There’s a few people already moaning and stirring the shit about Ange.

Fair enough then mate although I’ve barely seen anyone being overly critical of Ange tbh, from what I have seen the vast vast majority are fully behind him and are very happy with him but just disappointed with the injuries etc and at worse have a few small question marks about some subs he made or possibly some more use of youth team players but nothing particularly bitchy or moany from what I can see, certainly not the majority.

And personally if there is, I just ignore it as I’ve said many a time there will always be some who moan and are negative no point highlighting it or being disappointed or surprised by it imo.

Not overly critical yet but the seeds are being sown.
We've all seen this happen plenty of times before and are now hip to the game.
It starts off small but then gets picked up by the hive and becomes the narrative that spirals.

Players, their parents and players’ agents in thinking they should be playing shocker… if that’s who is making the noise then that is not exactly surprising.

Most of them have at least one or two very recently academy players getting regular minutes.

Rico Lewis and Cole palmer(before his move) at City, Harvey Elliot at Pool, Colwill at Chelsea, Garnacho and Hanibal at Utd etc.
I'd caveat that with a few things.

Colwill was on loan at Huddersfield and Brighton before he even got a chance at Brighton.

Pep hardly trusted any of his academy players until he had been there a few years. Probably because he wanted to firmly establish his football in the club.

I know that we have started that but Ange may be waiting until he has a a more stable defence and midfield before he starts throwing young attackers on.

Elliott and Garnacho were both purchases, so if course they are going to be part of the first team squad.

Ange didnt even have a preseason with some of these young players I don't think? May be he wants to do that before throwing them in.

I mean in the case of Dorrington.

Had Romero been available or VDV then that would have been a great time to give Dorrington a chance as you have experienced (Romero) or calmer heads (VdV).

Unfortunately, Ange can he either put him alongside Dier, who he may pick up bad habits from or Davies who is not even a CB.

Young CBs need an older experienced assured head there guiding them.

They are 100% going to make a mistake and need someone to reassure them.

Players like Dier and Davies need to focus on their game.

Donley probably should get a chance, but perhaps Ange wants to do that when the midfield consists of players who can control the game?

I mean he has Veliz, Donley and Dorrington on the bench, that's not overlooking the academy (Veliz has played for the U-21s, so no need to exclude him from the group). Phillips and Santiago injured, so he can't pick them. My take is, he left the space free to say to the other youngsters, there it is, if you want it, go get it. Work your socks off and next time it's yours. If you decide to moan and have your family banging on to the press instead, then it's clearly not going to be yours. Make your choice. It's one game, and we're talking about 18-20 year olds who've played almost no professional football, rushing is not the way forward. Them demanding the place by playing out of their skins every time they put on whatever level of shirt they're picked for is the way forward.
