Agree. Bale could see the ceiling at Spurs at the time. AVB just didn't seem like he was going to be able to take us to the next level (Champions' League, fighting at the top).But Bale was 23 (I think) and had outgrown us.
Dele isn't at Bale's level yet and, as a club, we've stepped up a level.
I would seriously doubt Alli is going anywhere in the next 18 months.
After that I don't disagree with you but, and it is a big but, our circumstances as a club may have changed drastically.
The new stadium, on-going CL participation, and possible silverware may close the gap between Alli's ambition and our ability to deliver that reducing his likelihood of moving on.
Such a shame we weren't in the position we're in now with Bale still here. We'd have won the league. He still would have left as we aren't quite yet there (but will be with the new stadium soon).
For players like Kane, Alli, Walker, Rose and now Vertonghen and Lloris, its become very clear that the culture and spirit at Spurs is incredible. Money is important but not the most important factor as we have that kind of player.
