I think he is that rare breed of players whose life experience means they know money isn't everything. The loyalty he was shown in his teen years will reverberate now. And he knows full well there is nowhere better than Spurs at thi time in his career. Real would just gobble him up and spit him out like others before him - Sneijder, Robben, Higuian, and countless more.

So to cut a long story short - he's going nowhere.

Sorry not familiar with his teen years. What's demonstrated his loyalty?

Yeah and Bale won't go to Madrid, He's a family man and he's having his first child, he's happy in london and is the main man for Spurs, oh wait.....

What he did for my mates nephew was great. The story was in the standard.
He also got toby, carroll and winks to visit him and facetimed him on christmas day to wish him a merry xmas.
He's a good lad in my book.

The fact that he was taken in and looked after by a friend's family. They now live at his 2 million pound home. He's excepionally mature for his age.
Sounds bog standard normal to me tbh. Difficult to think of the kind of level of wanker who wouldn't take care of the people who brought him up when he hit the jackpot

Mario Balotelli also takes care of his adoptive parents. Hardly a bastion of loyalty and good character

Listen, not getting down on Dele at all, but he's just done a completely normal thing there, proves nothing of his 'loyalty' or good character

In fairness, the dude at the Mail has done well to spin nothing into something.

Spurs don't have to break the bank, at all. They will do what they have done for years; frequent new contracts with incremental wage increases. Kane, Dier, Alli. Bale before him. All frequent new deals, adding an extra year each time and increasing the wages.

Funny how the UK media is so desperate to sell the best players, but will also be the first to turn around and bemoan a lack of talent when the time comes.

Yeah, I think us fans would do well not to fall into the trap of thinking this or that player is "different". Bottom line is, a footballers career is short and they want medals and to maximise their earnings. Hopefully in that order, but for some they are just as important as each other.

I don't get the feeling that our players are motivated by money, but they will still want success and we shouldn't think Alli will be have special loyalty because he's a "good lad", "down to earth", "family man" etc. All of the things Bale was.

I'd imagine Alli would want to play in the best stadium in the country, under the best Manager in the country before considering joining the 2 team League. His feet have barely touched the ground since he joined us.

We have gone a different way with our team building in the main
and I love this slow build with some of our own and youth
under a talented up and coming Manager
who himself will be subject to increasing pressure.

For the moment it is holding firm
but could easily crumble quite quickly
if we don't match our players aspirations
on the field and in their bank accounts.

Dele is a special case due to his age and quality.
Over the years I have tried not to get too attached to players.
Never had time to get attached to Managers.

We could probably get over one or two leaving
but not Kane or Dele.
They represent the new ethos at Spurs.

But you know how it is,
they meet up with Milner, Sturridge and Henderson at England gatherings
and they say 'How much!' because they're on double
and it eats away at you until something goes wrong
and then it bites the club on the rear.

Basically little tony got lukemia (he's only 10). He's a tottenham fan. Alli's foster mum saw it on facebook and told him about it. This was the day they flew back from germany. He went straight to great ormund street and spent two hours with him playing fifa (although he didn't let him win and chose to play as barca).

Should put an end to the Real Madrid rumours then.

But Bale was 23 (I think) and had outgrown us.

Dele isn't at Bale's level yet and, as a club, we've stepped up a level.
I would seriously doubt Alli is going anywhere in the next 18 months.

After that I don't disagree with you but, and it is a big but, our circumstances as a club may have changed drastically.
The new stadium, on-going CL participation, and possible silverware may close the gap between Alli's ambition and our ability to deliver that reducing his likelihood of moving on.
