Having watched yesterday's game, it was hard to escape the conclusion that TAA was only going through the motions.
If there's any set of fans who should be experts at seeing a player doing that, it's us!

Disagree, I think if there was any player in that generation, after Beckham, who worked his balls off, it was Gerrard. Scored some vital goals too.Gerrard rarely got close to his club form for England. The Lampard/Gerrard thing didn't help but I always felt Fat Frank did a bit better. I think his best performances were in qualifying for the SA world cup when he played on the left, unfortunately come the tournament he didn't stick to it (tactics or he just didn't fancy it?) and he spent all the time in the middle unbalancing the team.

But ultimately rarely transformed his club form for his country.
He's a number of players who just epitomised the golden generation, our top teams were mixing it with the best in the CL and the English core would always stand out but when it came to England they flattered to deceive.
100%.Because they were too petty worrying about club rivalries and didn’t have each others back. It’s so weak from them and the management. They should of put it behind them and if the manager realised it was a problem then he shouldn’t have selected those players, whoever they were. Maybe then we’d of done better.

He was England player of the year twice though, and in the top three on three other occasions. It might be a low bar, but he was often one of the best that we had in the team.
The point was 'Gerrard rarely got close to his club form for England.'
Despite those accolades the statement is true.
There were several occasions where pundits and public were suggesting a 4-3-3 with Hargreaves or Carrick holding, but it just never happened. Sven was obsessed with playing two strikers, so that was a non-starter, McClaren was just generally inept and Capello didn't appear to give a toss.I think with Gerrard he was always used poorly for England.
Lampard should have been dropped, as for me Gerrard was more of an international player and should have been played more centrally.
Although nowadays perhaps they could of both played in a 4-3-3 with a holder alongside them? Not sure if we ever tried that as 4-3-3 wasn’t quite the in-thing as it is now?
How in the world did Liverpool get shortlisted for Greatest Sporting Moment 2019 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/13TSsH5YPzjpQFLjh80hwr5/greatest-sporting-moment-2019) and not our Ajax game?
Scoring in the last second to win from being 2 nil down was a better spectacle and most pundits agreed.
I dont get why Allison would make that attempt to save the ball outside the box
They're managed so incredibly well. Really envious of their recruitment process and staff.Liverpool are in talks to sign RB Salzburg's Takumi Minamino in January.
The 24-year-old has a £7.25m release clause in his contract, which has alerted a number of Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A clubs, so the Reds have accelerated their interest.
Bargain.
