Yep I would rather be kicked by a horse than bitten by a Crocodile…

Both equally depressing in similar but different ways, they will go down for me as Levy’s biggest mistakes; trying to get ‘glamour’ / ‘win now’ managers rather than ones suited to our players strengths and style of play (DNA).

Our best football under Conte was better than our best under Jose but the last couple of years have been a tough watch seeing the club move away from ‘front foot’ positive play with high intensity levels to inviting pressure, containing the opposition and breaking quickly.

As far as i can remember Jose always spoke well about the club and was definitely less of a ****. So he wins.

I was a much, much bigger fan of Jose as a person, and for me albeit still largely negative his football edged it too. Plus he got us to a Cup final.

Conte's first season was really good. Second season not great but still had us in contention with Dier as CB.

What Conte did at the end of last season shouldn’t be underestimated and my gut feeling was that he did the better job. But looking at the stats and the spend, maybe it was Jose. The football was certainly better under Jose, and that’s not something I thought I’d ever say.

Didn't like either of them, particularly Mourinho. Both big egos who ended up protecting their own brands. Both played dreadful football that made us a chore to watch. Looking forward to us getting back on the right track with any luck

Both tenures had flashes of good counter attacking, but on the whole the football under both of them has been passive and boring to watch. I know some of that was down to who these managers had to work with, but this whole period in our history has been frustrating and dull.

I'm hopeful for us to start playing some possession based, attacking, positive football next season.

I'll say this for Jose too... I think he delivered on promising to help Kane explode. Like taking Marco Van Basten and adding Francesco Totti. He also stopped us playing out from the back, and took the pressure off Hugo.

Those two were the biggest beneficiaries of Jose's time.

I felt there were moments under both where I felt good. Yes the football wasn't great to watch, but that run where we were top under Mourinho and the end of last season with Conte were great for me.

It's 50/50 really.

Both disasters who have set back our club and destroyed a lot of the work Poch did in building a positive culture and unity within the club. They've both contributed to destroying the players and ideas of playing progressive football.

Conte wins out as he qualified for the CL and had that good spell towards the end of last season.

But the sooner both are forgotten, the better.

Interesting that the consensus seems to be that they were both pretty bad for us, when pre hire the mantra here was that they would both guarantee us trophies, with people turning their noses up at suggestions of Eddie Howe or Ryan Mason for example.

Conte was magic last season.

I'm guessing a combination of feeling let down in the market, personal tragedy and regret led him to deliver this awful season.

Mourinho started a season well but it was never lasting with the ridiculous football we were playing . I've seen people knocking Conte on regards to Milan after seeing the game last night well I remember us going to Leipzig, Chelsea too and making no attempt to do anything.

I know he has his fans here but the Mourinho era was my least favourite of any. The only Tottenham managers I hated that much were Graham for obvious reasons and Sherwood.

So Conte gets the nod for me but I don't want to see either of them ever again.

I'd rather forget both of their tenures. Jose sucked all the culture that Poch had engendered at the club, and everyone was miserable.

Conte never wanted to be here, and should never have been hired.

If I had to choose though... Jose I actually respect, and is someone who I'd like to actually sit down and discuss football with.

Conte... ****y more like.
This sums up my feelings perfectly.
Jose has his faults but he at least tried. He believed we could be better.
Conte for me never truly wanted to be here; it's a marriage of circumstances and convenience, and he got himself released just in time for this summer when alot of contracts are close to expiry hence big movements expected.

Both started with some crazy games as if the players were playing on fumes but once the apparent world-class managers got their finger-prints on the team we played dreadful stuff. Conte seemed to have higher highs but lower lows. 3 more years of forgettable football at Spurs to add to the large pile.

Jose even had an one-to-one training programme with Ndombele to improve his fitness during covid lockdown

I think both could've done better had they not been hamstrung by Levy but looking back at their records, neither were terrible, they just weren't the right fit under our chairman.
It's a coin toss between the two for me.
I disagree with this - Conte did not fancy it in the end. If he had've been 100% committed to the project and really wanted it to suceed we could've made it work. Nothing suggests he did not get support from Levy. Conte had a tremednously difficult year personally and I think his family situation added a lot of stress....when things got difficult, I don't think the appetite was there to push through.

On Jose...you may have more of an argument but bottom line is the football was absolutely atrocious and in the end the fans did not fancy a 2-3 season rebuild watching us defend a 1-0 lead for 80 minutes.

To lay the blame at Levy's door is somewhat disingenous.

Almost don't want to compare them as I think both are overpaid charlatans

But watching Inter walk all over that awful Milan side last night makes me have a lot of recency-biased rage towards Conte

They felt like a double act: part 1 and part 2 of the same dreary play.

Conte deserves some credit for last season's turnaround. Qualifying for the Champions League is hardly the massive achievement he made out, but we played well for a few months last year, and he was rightly praised for that.

I think the above outweighs anything Mourinho achieved. Many people mention reaching the EFL final, but that was only three matches: Chelsea on penalties at home, Stoke in the Qs and Brentford in the Semis. In the other cup competitions, we were as bad under Mourinho as we were under Conte. We went out to Norwich and Everton in the FA Cup (both 5th round) and Leipzig and Zagreb in the last 16 of the CL/EL.

Conte was backed in the transfer market and, I think, had a better squad than Mourinho. However, he did better with last year's squad than this year's improved squad.
