Bale obviously needs more time and I'm willing to give it to him - the last thing he needs are Real Madrid fans right here at home...

1. Football just doesn’t work like that.
2. I disagree with you. It’s potential damaging for others in the squad to learn that out top earner is not performing.

My take.

Firstly you have to earn the right to be selected for starting eleven.

Secondly, you have to perform to a level which suggests your inclusion was merited.

I'll concede that some haven’t appeared to excel when handed their chance. Moura often being mentioned.

But without going down that path, and solely looking at Bale, he has all the tools, and he maybe needs to bring more to fore when included.

Reputation can only get you so far.

As for has he had a fair chance. I'd suggest yes, opportunities to show what he he can do in training, opportunities in matches.

Can't comment on the training, but being honest, he's not exactly seizing the moment when being involved in match day fixtures.

I would agree with that, all other things being equal. Meaning, it’s known that Bale is fully fit and has calibrated enough to perform to the levels expected of him. I just don’t think that’s the case as his injuries, long lay off and returning to a very different league have clearly demonstrated otherwise. What’s going to fix this is rehab, adaptation and support from the vestiges of fans that he’s put his own neck on the line for by coming back. I think he’s earned enough credit with us to afford a little benefit of the doubt. I could be mistaken but I just don’t buy that he came back for entirely selfish reasons without giving a damn about the club. Does he need to step up and fight like hell for a spot? Absolutely - both he and Jose have acknowledged this.
