Not posting this because I won't Mourinho sacked, but I don't agree with this rationale that "nobody will do better". Chelsea changed and looked much better from day one. So it's not impossible that a different manager could do better.

I should qualify my statement by saying that no one who is available at this stage of the season would do much better. Tuchel is an elite level manager but there are no others currently available to us.

So he's doing exactly what most of our fanbase wanted?
its too late now the players wont play for him now after being scapegoated all season. how can you play for a man that consistently calls you lazy then says ok go play your heart out for me now too fucking late

Yes, but in this game no one thought we'd win. Nothings changed, but let's all get angry at the same things again.

yeah that’s what I meant.

We needed and still do need a painful rebuild. Jose is not that type of Manager rather someone who comes in and guarantees success with Trophies.

Many will argue we are in a Cup final and Europa so he could still bring success. However even if we did somehow win something, which seems unlikely based on current form, the bigger picture is we need rebuilding and need to do so with the right manager.

My love of Spurs eclipses my dislike for Jose similarly as it did when George Graham was in charge. But I want the best for the club and for me ripping the band aid sooner or later and getting in a Nagelsmann or manager of similar ilk is key.

And how exactly the players aren't playing for him? He called Bale this week, and wow, he was *ok* today.

No doubt mate ... no doubt
Robinson
Pamarot King Naybet Edman
Carrick Mendes Brown
Keane Defoe Kanoute

Pamarot, fuck me. Forgot about him. Truly one of the shittest players of all time. I remember in that 5-4 against the Scum he actually stopped playing, just downed tools completely as the game was too much for him. Honestly, where do we find these players.

The board have bank rolled Jose Mourinho Bergwijn, Bale, Reguillon, viniscus, Hojbjerg Doherty Rodon and given Dier and Toby new contracts since he was in charge. He’s been bank rolled. He’s not delivering. Pep would have this current squad near the top of the league and actually playing football
Most of those were long overdue. We desperately needed a DM, new fullbacks and a backup striker. We had done for years before last summer. Bale was an opportunistic loan deal.

We neglected to properly replace Vertonghen and Alderweireld as they declined. Lloris now needs to be replaced as well. There’s a long list of squad players who aren’t good enough and need to be upgraded.

We may have done a lot of business last summer but that’s because we’ve been playing catch-up from years of neglecting the squad, and new problems have popped up like a game of whack-a-mole all the while.

There’s a great deal that needs to be done to solve our problems and no money to do it. I have to agree with Herc that it feels like we’re going nowhere.

We were on course for a bottom half finish under Poch.

People have short term memories about this...

We were also 3 points off 5th when he was fired.

Let’s not ignore how unhappy he had been because he’d been locked out of our transfer dealings.

He must have known they were looking for a replacement.

Not to say he’s wasn’t struggling but given his record he could have been given longer. Mourinho hasn’t done miracles with a much better squad.

I don’t disagree, but Nagelsmann isn’t going to come mid-season. Maybe in the summer, if at all. If the key players were showing signs of having downed tools then I’d go with ripping off the band aid, but as they aren’t at the moment I think riding the season out and seeing where we are is the most sensible thing to do.

It's been said before and will be said again. Levy is incredible for the off the field decisions. His most successful managers however have happened generally (not exclusively) by luck and and a gamble. Jol,Redknapp and Poch. Jose is not the right fit for Spurs and was never the right guy to continue on from what Poch started. It was a "we're almost certainly guaranteed trophies which will keep fans of my back" appointment.

I still rate Jose actually but this isn't going to work. Sadly.

Losing to Man City wasn't really a surprise and in ordinary circumstances it wouldn't be a big deal. But 12 points in 12 matches over the last 2 months is really indefensible. That's nearly one third of a season averaging a point a game. It's the sort of form that would get managers of the likes of Newcastle and Brighton the sack. And we have also gone out of the FA cup during that period.

Mourinho possibly does get an undue amount of stick in here but by the same token he enjoys more leeway from some fans than they would give 99% of other managers. For instance I can't imagine many fans defending Sam Allardyce if he had been the man overseeing the team over these past two months. Nearly every poster here would be saying Sam Allardyce should be doing better with this squad - and they would be right.

Having said that, I still think we should give him to the end of the season at least. I'd like to see him have a shot at the League cup final and maybe he deserves that- he did lead us there after all. There is also the possibility that he might turn things around between now and then although it does feel like hope of that is diminishing week by week.

he played bale when the game was dead and buried lets see if he actually plays him when he needs a goal he never rates him. had a spat with bale this week, dele all season, aurier and im sure many others he just brings a toxic atmosphere to the club. once he leaves the place will feel alot better

I personally haven’t looked to get Mourinho out until probably the last month, I’ve been of the opinion the manager matters little if those above him are fucking about, I’m still of that view point as far as us becoming a successful team, but it’s gone beyond that now, each week we’re subjected to complete dogshit football.
I hear people saying there’s been better signs lately, some attacking intent, are we so shit now that we celebrate having a couple of shots on target? In truth today City will rarely have had an easier game, a lot if teams can truly say that off us this season, we’ve largely been diabolical, sitting 8th in the table in reality is kind to us, we’ve largely been playing like relegation fodder.
What we need is a complete overhaul top to bottom but Mourinho is a start...

How about instead of lazily implying people are being knee jerk - you look up some of the posters’ old posts and realise every single one of the posters has consistently posted how they want him gone.

Should we not post in this thread after we’ve just watched that dogshit? Do we have to wait a few days before we get the Danny1 seal of approval to post? We’re the fucking saps paying to watch it, he’s paid 15m a year to do his job, and he’s utterly failing to do it.
Which rather suggests that they've already made up their minds, rather than responding to what the situation in front of them actually is, wouldn't you say?

Yeah agree - I know how we got here for sure, but that still doesn't change anything regardless of what goes on 'upstairs'. It's like that maze we keep walking around and end up at that dead-end time and time again. Levy has got to change or let someone in who knows the football side of things, but we keep saying that and end up right where we were. We'll be locked in this Levy designed maze until someone with a couple of billion actually sees that in truth, from a sporting perspective we are actually a very good investment, though the more Levy fucks around, the less viable we'll be. If he was a true fan of the club, he'd have realised what a fuck up he makes and buggered off and joined big joe on his boat.
I was actually agreeing with you.

I always think Levy's biggest disappointment was Arnesen and Comolli not working out. He had 2 men in charge here who bought players within budget and most of their purchases were sold at a profit.

But on the football side of things he has run out of ideas since then.

That was our heaviest defeat in the PL under Mourinho. I’m curious to know what it was under the last 4 managers.
If you don't have players pushing forward, your hardly going to concede masses of goals! Problem is we don't know how to attack and can't defend for shit! We've wont three games in league in 13 games, they were against Leeds, WBA and Sheffield utd. The players that we have are better than that, not City level, but much much better than whats on show at the moment.
The players look like they're scared to play, scared to experiment or show any initiative, the ones who do are the likes of Kane and Son who are undroppable so they don't need to worry if they don't produce.
Jose has the team hiding on the pitch and that is all down to his tactics and man management

It does feel like there have been some improvements since Brighton and Chelsea, and assuming there is nothing obvious out there on the replacement front right now it makes sense to leave it with Jose until the end of the season.

We were outclassed today but I do think we'll have a shot in the final under him. The goals conceded were very soft today, if everyone is on it we'll have a chance. That crazy game midweek wouldn't have helped us today. I'd still rather play City than Liverpool in that final.

We're only 5 games into the second round of fixtures and have Chelsea, City and Liverpool out of the way. The table looks bad right now but if we improve we'll have a shot at going on a run.

Absolutely have to fix the defence though. I hope he just picks a CB pairing and sticks to it for a few games. I'd go Toby+1, he may be tailing off but at least he's been top quality before.

Pretty confident our football will continue to improve now Jose trusts Ndombele in the 8, plus Reggie and Gio back soon. Hopefully one of Dele or Bale will step up in the coming weeks. Europa will give them a chance to build confidence.

Next week is massive for Jose though, and our season as a whole. Get comprehensively beaten there and it could be the beginning of the end.
