There’s no point sacking him now and I am sure we won’t, unless relegation threatened which is extremely unlikely. There’s no one we could get in at this point who would be a positive step forwards for the club.
In the summer it’s a different story, when we’ve completed our league and European campaigns and know where we stand. That’s the time to make a change as more suitable replacements will be available.
Bleating on about it isn’t going to make any difference. Despite some of the turgid displays we’ve had by far the most boring thing about Jose’s tenure is this fucking thread. Full of pub bores endlessly repeating the same old shit. That’s the most compelling reason to sack him for me.
Too right. This thread has brought out the worst in many of us

The club has made a very expensive mistake. It’s best for all concerned to end it all now.
It depends if the club think it will be even more expensive to end it now or end of season. If what’s reported about clauses in his contract coming into effect if we don’t win something and/or get CL are true then the board will want to be certain if sacking him now, which I’m sure will be more expensive, we would be able to bring in someone who can get us top 4. Which I doubt we could. Personally I think the board won’t want to sack him and are probably prepared to tough it out for a little longer because any realistic alternative doesn’t really offer anything better.

We were on course for a bottom half finish under Poch.

People have short term memories about this...

And so we sack him? after all he'd done?so no young managers are given any opportunity to grow or learn from their mistakes? what ever happened to loyalty? the man who brought us to cl finals deserves nothing?

Bottom line is that whether its Jose's fault, lack of players available or just players playing shit is irrelevant. Professional football is a results-driven business & if the results aren't happening for whatever reason, then we all know how it goes. The board regardless of multiple fuck ups will be absolved of any blame, that's just how it works.
Ultimately we've got to where we are because of a poor transfer setup.

At times it has been good. Under Arnesen and Comolli and to an extent Baldini, we brought in good young players and developed them. This resulted in a better squad within budget.

But under Redknapp there was a lot of short-termism and under Poch it was a case of if we couldn't get the top target we bought no one.

I was in favour of hiring Jose and am currently on the fence but one thing he has never been known for is getting good stop gaps. A couple of experienced defenders who defend first and don't lose their heads and an experienced midfielder to compliment Hojbjerg and Ndombele and we could be in a much better position.

Jose was brought in for short term results but I can't say the signings made are going to get that.

For me, this isn’t just about the coach. There are broken links in the chain, top to bottom. Whether we fire Jose or not, it will not be an automatic panacea for fixing those broken links. I wish it really were that simple. I wish we had a team of superstars who should be challenging for the title and the top 4, but I’m not convinced we do. Maybe a new face might help some of the players with form and confidence. Or maybe it won’t. My point being, is that changing our manager will not be a magical 180. A lot more is required for us to be at the level some seem to think we are at. Personally, I don’t see a squad that is good enough to finish any higher than 6th. But, that is just my non optimistic opinion.

My fear is that there are some long hard times to come. Be it with Jose or without.

I’ve been critical of Mourinho from the start but the last few matches I’ve actually seen an improvement in our performances. Players look like they know what they want to do, and are still fighting for the manager.

Absolutely pointless sacking mourinho now. We're going to win some more and lose some more between now and the end of the season. We just need to see where we are then. No one else coming in will do much better with this set of players.

mourinho is such a clown seriously hes now relying on bale and dele to help the team after all season brushing them aside and making negative comments about them all season. now he wants to them ride out for him and die on the pitch for him lmaoo like fuck, he should of treated them more fairly at the beginning of the season. now he knows hes near the end and is panicking he wants there help, if i was bale and dele i would say get lost pal

Not posting this because I want Mourinho sacked, but I don't agree with this rationale that "nobody will do better". Chelsea changed and looked much better from day one. So it's not impossible that a different manager could do better.

Anybody expecting investment in the summer must surely know it’s not going to happen. Was a £60m loss in this years financials?
DL said in this update that if we didn’t get people back in the stadium this year would see an unsustainable loss of £150m
Maureen isn’t going to get bankrolled, he will have to coach what he’s got.
This, depressingly, is the reality of our situation.

Levy made an error bringing in a short-term manager to oversee what should have been a long-term rebuild. In the time it has taken to establish that the short-term fix won’t suffice, the club was hit with a once-in-a-century pandemic that has completely undermined our financial position.

It feels like we’re stuck in purgatory. Mourinho doesn’t have the tools he needs and we haven’t got the resources to get him better tools. Nor do we have the resources to sack him and undertake a new project.

Levy fucked it years ago, it has taken until now to fully come to grips with it, and we’re caught in a situation where it feels like there’s no way out.

So he's doing exactly what most of our fanbase wanted?

The most frustrating aspect of this season is it's another opportunity lost.
Similar to the season Leicester won it, we had a real good chance with others in poor form but couldn't step up.
Man city have put a run together and likely won't be caught but a few different result early on and we would have been a fair few points clear and maybe a different mentality.
Nah, city would be pulling away regardless. We don't have the capabilities to do what they are doing. Remember only 10 games had passed when we were top, the league is never settled by that point and even a few better results would have just meant our top 4 chances were stronger.

Yeah agree - I know how we got here for sure, but that still doesn't change anything regardless of what goes on 'upstairs'. It's like that maze we keep walking around and end up at that dead-end time and time again. Levy has got to change or let someone in who knows the football side of things, but we keep saying that and end up right where we were. We'll be locked in this Levy designed maze until someone with a couple of billion actually sees that in truth, from a sporting perspective we are actually a very good investment, though the more Levy fucks around, the less viable we'll be. If he was a true fan of the club, he'd have realised what a fuck up he makes and buggered off and joined big joe on his boat.

UNLESS! UNLESS! The board bank roll within reason, don’t matter even if Pep was our manager, we are going nowhere very fast! # FACTS

He may well be gone in the summer, but it won’t change anything much. Entertaining football, with nothing at the end of it. Fix investment, and not what we saw this summer, and we obviously don’t have the finances. And yes the pandemic has hit very hard. Until that happens, let us see what happens for the day one desperate folks, who were against him before even a ball was kicked.

Since 1966 I have seen very sad times. But I always stood by whoever was in charge. I cannot understand the modern day fan these days. Until end of season I want us to achieve something. I want to see us win the CC&EL. But I can guarantee there are those who would rather us go trophy-less, be out of Europe. End up in financial disaster, just to satisfy their egos, to the behest of our great club.

The board have bank rolled Jose Mourinho Bergwijn, Bale, Reguillon, viniscus, Hojbjerg Doherty Rodon and given Dier and Toby new contracts since he was in charge. He’s been bank rolled. He’s not delivering. Pep would have this current squad near the top of the league and actually playing football
