Can we all just accept that we have an excellent counter attacking gameplan, against the high quality teams, who will seek to press high and dominate; But against opposition where we need to take the game to them, we still have a lot of work to do?

Fair?

Spot on. We were looking good against West Ham before it all went to shit. Jose took the ‘shut up shop’ lesson from that game. Ideally we need to get at least two goals before we do it though!

today I think we were in two minds between ‘shut up shop’ and ‘kill the game’, which didn’t help.

Think we saw some good in the first and then we got a peek at what was to come as the end of the half came to a close, the second started pretty much like the first ended and we struggled.

Jose might admit he made mistakes in this game, end of the second half showed we had the quality, it's an annoying draw.

Still unbeaten in the league since opening day.

Next game up mentality I suppose.

I agree. I personally don't think the tactics were to defend deep and play the counter. I think we were setup to attack, with an eye on strength in the middle. As you say it resulted in a bit of a nowt nor summat. Reminiscent of Pochs later days, when he couldn't get the midfield right.

Bale being out didn't help.

Listen to his interview on SSN! Was not his instructions how we played second half
it's not like his job is solely comprised of matchday instructions. fact is, we struggle to dominate possession and field of play when the opposition tightens up. Mourinho might have wanted us to live in their half and get that 2nd goal but we (still) lack the automatisms to do it consistently.

Their keeper had a worldie. Unless Mourinho gave him a pep talk before the game we can’t pin this one on him. All credit to Palace for staying in the game.
I’m not pinning this on Mourinho but I’ve seen a few people say their keeper swung it...

They hit the woodwork a couple of times and our first was a bad mistake... it was an even game and we might have one if but a draw was a fair result.

I hate to agree with riggi but their keeper made 3 worldy saves, on another day 1 or 2 of those go in and it’s no biggy.

Get 4 points from Liverpool and Leicester and that would’ve been 12 points from out last 6 games consisting of City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Liverpool and Leicester. I’ll take that.

Yeah possibly, but highlights why we are one creative player short in the squad imo.

Or one creative player short in the first-team which is down to the manager.

We could have another 10 creative players in the squad it won't help if the twat never plays any of them.

The twat? Are you for real?
Just remember, Hildo - there's nothing personal about the dislike of Jose from those who criticise him. It's all about the football.

Allegedly.

(To be fair, there's a fair few for whom it very obviously is about the football and not personal, but they're not the loudest screamers...)

I guess every manager in the league is shit then. Klopp just drew with Fulham, Guardiola has been watching his team play turgid football all season, Lampard got schooled by Everton, Solskjaer and Arteta haha, and Ancelotti has had some terrible results and performances all season.

Maybe, just maybe some of our fans can just be happy that we have gone 11 league games without a loss, conceded our first league goal in hours, and that we still top the league.

We need someone in January that can do what Sissoko does but acc can pass the ball.

I hope he has someone lined up for that.

Yep I’ve been saying the same for months. Get an upgrade or alternative for that second midfield slot in January and I will be a lot more convinced of our chances of winning the league.

I appreciate the parking the bus tactics against the traditional top sides but a team with title winning ambitions shouldnt be doing it against a mid table side with 60 minutes to go.

The worry is, at some point, because the focus is so heavy on not conceding, we will end up struggling up top.

The club didnt fulfill its potential under redknapp or poch sides because the managers were too one dimensional. I really really hope, this isnt the case here.

We didn’t play anything like we did against Man City or Chelsea today. Far from it. Second half I saw a spurs team who couldn’t get out their half for two or three reasons.

1. Our players passing was horrendous. Every time we looked to try and pass the ball between our players we gave it away. Dier, regullion and Sissoko the worst culprits.
2. We kept on giving away free kicks in dangerous areas or zaha fell over and the ref fell for it. We’d actually cut that out of our games pretty much since the Newcastle game but it returned today.
3. They were playing at home in front of their fans and wanted to give them a good performance. There are two teams in a football match and they have enough dangerous attackers and big lads at set plays.

If people think we played like we did for the last few games today then I really don’t know what game they were watching. If anything once they scored they felt they’d done their bit and stopped attacking us. Instead they sat in and were on the back foot. Kane should of probably scored his header. He does that and it’s a good win away. I feel like I’d watched that game twenty times before at Selhurst Park. We never get an easy game there.

There is always going to be a problem getting out when you are so compressed and narrow, as when a defender actually gets the ball with time to look up he has zero options other than a dangerous pass into midfield or a percentage ball.

There was no effort on or off the bench for us to get up the pitch. Until they scored.
