Pochettino: Winning the league could take 5-10 years
Mourinho: We can win it next season

We've replaced a content loser with a driven winner.

We know it ended badly for Poch and everyone shares the blame, but how about showing Poch a little respect for what he achieved at Spurs without the backing?

At the risk of sounding a bit quacky, energy is so so so important in and around a football club and we feel it even when we don't realise it.

I'm currently coaching at a club in Portugal and because my Portuguese is poor I have to rely on feelings (I'm quite sensitive too). We are currently having lots of problems, players fighting and lots of squabbles. Training is quite intense too. I've felt a horrible negativity and the head coach doesn't talk to me as much as in the beginning.

I think you can clearly tell that the players (Spurs) have been under this negative energy and it's been weighing them down. Basic football principles become a chore, everything you do takes much more effort, it's hard to feel positive and dig in.

So when people say the players are snakes and got Poch the sack, it's totally unfair to say that as they are humans and feed off of energy. At the end of the day, the head coaches are responsible for that.

Therefore, it's really great to see lots of smiling faces today.

Guardian - Mourinho certainly looks refreshed after his time off and time in the Sky Sports studio. There is a bit more of the early Mourinho in his eyes and smile. It shows what time off can do to a man used to the pressure of top-flight management.

Let's be honest, the pressure and Real Madrid and United is utterly fucking ridiculous and when he returned to Chelsea there was still a large amount of pressure maybe not compared to the first 2. I imagine managing us is a fucking walk in the park in comparison.

Different expectations for sure but there is a huge amount of pressure to lift the club right now and get the whole 'new manager bounce' thing going.

We've never had a manager like this who will be under constant scrutiny from the media. A loss on Saturday would be a most unfortunate start....

‘Do you think losing the champions league final affected the spurs squad?’ .... ‘ I don’t know because I’ve never lost a champions league final’ ahaha

HOOOLLLYYYY SHHIIIEEEETTTTT!!!!! Hahaha

Not being funny, but it's comments like that we need.

If he doesn't stamp a winning mentality into these players, no one will. I love his confidence.

He clearly backs himself.

And if he does, there's a fair shout that he thinks he'll get a tune out of this squad.

We've never had this much press before, ever. So much scrutiny on us now it's actually mental.

I hope those who say that the media have an agenda against us are gonna be ready for the next few years, we're gonna be at the top of a lot of columns for good and for bad.

I don't think I've ever felt so hyped up after a presser from any of our managers quite like this one. I will forever hold Poch in high regards, but this one just seemed that bit emphatically different.

I do respect what he achieved here.

I also believe his innate losers' mentality and his obvious contentment with being an also-ran was what killed it for him, and has killed us for the last year, and will kill him again in future.

As for "without the backing" - he spent £350m in 4 years. We were also willing to shell out another £50m+ for Dybala, and we know from ITKs that Poch turned down several potential signings during the windows we didn't sign anyone. Add those in and there was the potential there for Poch to have spent upwards of half a billion in 4 years. Please spare me this "he wasn't backed" nonsense.

Mourinho confirmes he slept at the training ground last night. The lodge offers “huge pillows”. When Howard Kendall was the Athletic Bilbao manager he lived with at their famous Lezama training ground with the club’s janitor because he couldn’t find anywhere in the city he wanted to live. I hope Mourinho follows suit.

The difference between this conference and Poch’s over the past few weeks is staggering.

That positive energy will make a huge difference in the next coming weeks if we can keep it moving in this direction.

Honestly can’t wait for the game this weekend, it’s going to be a cracking fixture.

Well having seen 2 parts of the press conference, he has so far instilled some confidence in me as a fan. I just hope that the players feel the same. He really came across as a different person form the past Jose we use to think was a twat (even a successful twat!)

But relatively speaking that pressure will be nothing to him, the guy stopped Barca at their peak, he'll eat it for breakfast.
