His earlier managerial career was interesting and he did very well at Porto and Chelsea (yes lots of money ofc) and Inter, then he completely lost his head at Madrid and became a grumpy old man, he’s continued to win some trophies because as unlikeable as he can be, he can also be ‘charming’ and his tactics whilst boring are at times still effective.

However since Madrid he’s sucked the life out of every club he’s managed and left them in a toxic mess. He seems to suit Serie A and has done ok with some decent backing at Roma.

I’ll probably watch the documentary but might well turn it off after 10 mins.

He’s a bit of a weird bloke but has moments of warmth and humour. Can’t argue with his CV tbh but wouldn’t have him anywhere near Fergie, Pep, Anchelotti, Cruyff, Cluff, Sacci in terms of overall quality and being revolutionaries.

Part of being a manager is to motivate people and provide joy, results are one thing but if you bore and frustrate everyone getting them then they don’t mean as much.

FWIW I prefer him to Conte but they’re both twats.

Seen this episode before..

In all seroiusness though, I doubt big clubs will touch him now.

He has an embrassment of attacking riches, like with us and United, and can't seem to get any attacking strategy to stick/function.

Thats probably down to him always reverting to safety first but it shows that his football is pretty much dead.

Embarrassment of attacking riches when he was with us? I think that is a bit of a stretch.

He also had at various points Lamela, Bergwijn and Lucas. I’m not saying any of them were incredible but in addition to Son and Kane they were not the worst options to have. It’s a stronger selection of forwards than Ange has had this season, definitely when you factor in the Maddison injury.

He had Kane and Son and I think he put them to good use. Who is the other world class attacker?

To be fair to him, he did put them to good use at times. The problem was it seemed like it was the only real idea he had. A low block with Kane releasing Son on the break. I know the rest of our team wasn’t much to speak of but Mourinho seemed so bereft of ideas and the atmosphere was so toxic that Levy couldn’t reasonably bankroll him with the kind of signings he would have wanted.

He wasn't world class when he came back. To be fair, Gareth Bale did great things after the loan ended...
He scored 16 times for us with a record of one goal per 104 minutes. He scored 11 PL goals in 20 appearances, exactly 10 of which were starts and 10 off the bench.

He was still quality but dreadfully underused.

Levy then did the same thing when he hired Conte and very soon realised he'd be nuts to back him with the sort of players he wanted. 2 absolutely terrible appointments.

Don't be absurd. He was doing things on the pitch that everyone else in the team, bar Kane, could only dream of. If he'd been properly let off the leash he'd have destroyed teams single handed.
