This is very bothersome. Even though the last year of Poch's tenure didn't go as planned, at least his aim was always to dominate and attack the opposition – something that I've always admired and cherished. The negative tactics employed by Mourinho is unbearable to watch (at least the last 4 games.) Even when Spurs won against Wolves I was still left behind with a sour aftertaste... This can't go on like this. No "big teams" just sit back and await the opposition. At least not the successful ones; Liverpool, Man City, Bayern Ajax, RB Leipzig, PSG, Dortmund, FCB, (Leicester), etc...

I'm not sure but would you really say that our game for two years would be considered as being exciting footie????? You mean the idea was to create exciting footie but it didnt happen for 2 years and that was what...didnt go as planned.
It was terrible footie.
This was one game ffs!!!!
It was absolutely crap boring footie lifeless shit
(Yes 5 minutes at the end if a few games doesnt cut it)

Not pretty at the moment, but I remembered we were 14th just five weeks ago with danger of crashing out of the CL.

Why is it so hard to get behind this coach. Is not even two months in, guys..

I think fatigue is playing a massive part in our inconsistent performances. Look at the starting line up:

Gazzaniga - prior to Lloris’ injury he hasn’t played consistent 1st team football for a couple of seasons.
Vertonghen - pre Mourinho he was out of favour and looks a shadow of his form self.
Aurier - similar to Vertonghen he was out of favour, lacking regular football and now he’s 1st choice.
Dier - hardly played for two years and now he’s also playing pretty much week in week out. He’s a good 2-3 yards off the pace.
Sissoko - bundles of energy but he’s played in pretty much every game this season.
Moura - another bit part player who’s now playing week in week out. He’s commented on how he’s been blowing out of his arse lately.
Alli - hefty lay off and now a regular.
Son - he’s either playing every week for us or for S Korea, long overdue a rest.
Kane - never gets a rest.

Injuries, adjusting to a new country and league, and inexperience have significantly hampered the impact of Lloris, Rose, Foyth, Wanyama lol, Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon.

Look at our recent performances - non existent against Man U, battered Burnley, run ragged by Wolves, then non existent against Chelsea. All 4 games with pretty much the same set of players.

I don’t think we’ll see any consistency until next season.

I've put 4-3-3 suggestions in here and in the Dele thread... because the way I see it is that Dele doesn't play in that hook role very well, and can't replicate what we got from Eriksen. He's a superb second striker/hole player though, but in a double pivot system it leaves an enormous gap in the centre of midfield. I don't necessarily want to neuter his freedom though, which is kind of what happened in recent seasons when Poch asked him to do more of a central midfield job.

Put him in a forward 3, put Dier or whoever in the pure Makalele role, with a double 8 either side of him. Its pretty narrow, but the midfield would have less of a gap.

Right now it's like we play:
GK
RB-CB-CB-LB
DM-DM
absolutely fuck all
nope
nada

RWF-SS-CF-LWF

I think it’s worse than that, for me it’s more a case of:

......................... GK .......................
.......... CB......... CB .......... CB.......
...MS................ DM........................
RB...................................................
....................NOBODY.....................
..........LM .... HK .... DA ... HS.........

No central midfield, no left side, no link between midfield and attack, hit and miss defensive work by the front 4... either help out or not at all.

This is spot on. Huge huge gaps in our structure.

Yesterday was a total car crash - Son's sending off, Gazza's karate kick, Aurier switching off for the short corner that lead to their first (and then doing it again 5 minutes later!).

The bit that concerned me though was how long it took for us to change it and do something about it - the midfield was clearly not working, Moura wasn't functioning at all, Aurier was a car crash and none of Son, Kane or Alli were involved at all. Oh and Mount had the freedom of the whole pitch to go where he want and not get tracked at all.

Plenty were wanking into a sock in a previous game when he hooked Dier early and changed it around - there was none of that yesterday and yet it was so painfully obvious it wasn't working.

It's early days and he hasn't had a lot of time with the squad so he will definitely get time to fix this but I'd really like to see some evidence of him seeing these issues and doing something about them. I don't think we will spend much in January so he needs to work with what he has got.

I'd like to see more of the new players, less of Moura, less of Aurier, 3 in midfield and accept that means we can't have Son/Alli/Kane/Moura on the pitch at the same time.

How long it took us to change it? About 5 games mate and it still hasn't. I can see it but That's why I don't get paid millions.

maybe it’s as in previous lives he’s been a Grade A bell end of the very highest order ? ??

But realistically, he will be around for a long time. I realise that people may not like it but they're gonna have to get used to it.

Spot on. And the first thing to do is obviously to take away Alli and put Ndombele/Lo Celso/Eriksen instead of Nobody.
