Loses his place in the England team to that 1 in 10 useless steaming pile of turd Walcott, and then when Feo pulls out of the squad through illness his replacement is a 17 year old who's played 3 or so senior matches for a seriously shite Liverpoor team?
Let's just hope it fires him up to have a blinder on saturday. The mind does boggle though, must be said

Who cares?
I am more than happy to see spurs players play for us rather than the international teams. Internationals. SO WHAT!

I don't remember the last time Lennon had an outstanding game?

Just seems to tick along. Maybe that's due to having no competition for his place.

His average game is still head and shoulders above anyone else in the England squad. I understand the "who gives a fuck" side of things coz I've certainly leaned to the Club side or the Club vs Country debate for quite a few years. That said, I also believe a happy confident player is better than one who's unhappy and having some self confidence issues which I'm amussing is the case when he looks at the dross stood in his way of adding to his England caps. Just hope he uses this to motivate himself into having some outstanding matches for us

I agree Insomnia. I remember when he had his first few games of engerlang along side Beckham and they were outstanding together.

I'm still baffled that Beckham doesn't play but what do I know.

I like Aaron and he can be excellent, may though need to do more.
He does tend to do 'enough' to get by. He does tracks back well, which earned him a lot of brownie points with Harry. Not sure that AVB will see this the same way though. He could well be on to pastures new in the next year or two.

The thing with Lennon is, he's got it in him to be explosive, but he doesn't have the balls to do it. For me you have to risk losing it a couple of times, for the opportunity to skin your defender, which then sows the seed and then creates the space for you. Lennon instead thinks it's better to play it safe and knock it to a team-mate. Which isn't wrong, but he does it too often for a man of his dribbling ability (or getting past a defender ability anyway).

I agree with this. If he keeps making those darting tricky runs into the box then one of three things will happen: Defender wins ball - try again, Lennon gets past player - is in ideal position to shoot/cross, Defender commits foul - penalty.

Actually there is a forth option which is for the opposition to double mark Lennon - which is even better as it then leaves more space in the middle and on the other side where Bale is.

For me Lennon should be looking to get into the box with the ball at least 1 in every 2 times he has possession in that area of the pitch.

I'm not really bothered that he didn't make the squad, but I do feel he should be in ahead of Walnutt and Sterling, especially Sterling, what he's doing there I'll never know, 3 half decent games for the scousers and he get's a call-up, Hodgson sucking up to L'pool yet again. Anyway, back to Lennon, as I said I'm not too bothered he gets called up, but I hope he uses this disappointment to motivate him and put in some STERLING perfomances (see what I did there?) for the mighty lilywhites. COYS.

Nathan Dyer is more deserving than all the names mentioned in this thread.

Dyer is far more intelligent than Lennon.

In all fairness sterling has looked superb for Liverpool. On current form I'd definitely be picking him over Lennon if both were at spurs.

Aaron has the potential to be a great flying winger, but he isn't on form at the moment.

However over the years I think he has been poorly treated by England, but we don't see what has happened during the training camps.

If he wants it, he can get back into the starting XI never mind the squad, but I'm not sure he is really bothered

Lennon is part of a (generally) over-rated generation which hasn't got the ability to be at the top level internationally.
Nothing wrong with giving some experience to a 17 year old with real promise; who's to say he won't have a great season and be a squad regular in a years time?

Roy will have seen Lennon play countless times so he's not going to learn anything new by putting him in a squad for 4 days. This kid at Liverpool is new to the scene and understandably Roy wants to take a look at him; he'll learn whether he's got what it takes to make it at the highest level. Roy already knows that Lennon can do a job so it would be a waste of time getting him in the squad now.

In a way, he played himself out of Hodgeson's mind. He has been a bit listless since his long injury 2 and a half seasons ago.
