How good can Tom Carroll become?

Carroll is nowhere near the level of Hoddle, Gazza, Wilshere and any amount of players I could name at his age.

As I've said before, I already rate Pritchard higher than him, and if Tom goes on to have a long career with us then I'll be pleasantly surprised.
If he matches any of the 4 I've already mentioned I'll be totally amazed.

England doesnt really produce many technically gifted central midfielders, even semi decent ones. It's all lampard and gerrad types at best, and lots of destroyers, holding mids.

Hoddle, Gazza, Wilshere (possibly) and add Scholes to that list. really is once a decade type deal. Hopefully AVB and his team will coach the shit out of our young players and get away from that english mentality that seems not to produce small technically gifted players in favour of big strong types

I'd like to hope AVB can mould Carroll.

The strength will come, he looks a young 20 yr old, unlike Rooney who was like a 25 yr old at 17.

I wouldn't be too worried about his height or build. He's an inch taller than Tom Cleverly and weighs half a stone less, which is no big deal given the age difference, and 2 inches taller than Luka Modric, who weighs the same. He's also 3 inches taller than Paul Scholes, who we all know could have been a great footballer if he weren't so small, and 2 inches taller than Lionel Messi, who is of course utter crap. BTW, Anyone remember a scrawny, knock-kneed 19-year old who was 6 ft tall and only weighed 10 stone? Liverpool fans claimed was going to be the next big thing. Gerrard, I think his name was.

After watching the game all I can say is that this kid is going to be a world legend - good for us (if he decides to stay of course), for England, and for the sport in general.

He is already showing a lot of quality in so many areas and he is just 20.
