I think he does care, he’s just not good enough. A loan to Newcastle is a good move for him. He should take that. He won’t get anything better.

If he really cared he would make more effort on the pitch instead of walking around and putting in half arsed tackles. His technical ability is shocking but the least he can do is try

This would be a good move for him. It's clear his time here is up one way or another. He once had potential, but that seems to be long gone now. A change could do him a world of good. New surroundings, different players and coaching methods. At the very least, he'd get more game time, potentially raising his value. Or this could be a repeat of the Danny Rose trajectory: loan to Newcastle > banished to U23 > move to Watford.
I'd be very disappointed if anyone took the Danny Rose approach from a playing point of view. From the outside he seemed to be wasting a year or so of his career by not playing. But DR helped the younger players behind the scenes and may be this is where he sees himself in the future.
Winks has many years in front of him and shouldn't (my onions) waste it with U23's or on a bench not getting any playing time.

Agreed. Which is why I think he definitely needs to find himself a new club. It must be hard for him (putting all my dislike of him as a player aside). Club-grown, spent all his career here, lots of early potential and even England caps, to a downward trajectory with the prospect of having to find his level at a bottom-half club. All criticism of him aside, that's not easy for any professional. So as much as I'd like him to go, I do hope he finds a new lease of life elsewhere.

And don’t let the door smack you on the arse on your way out Winksy. Sorry, this guy just needs to man the f—k up and realise he needs to go. A club like Villa or Newcastle would idolise him once he gets his confidence back. The longer he sticks it out at Spurs, the harder it will be to start over.

Give him his dues, that tackle and pass for the first goal were...very un-Winks-like, to say the least. Very nice indeed. Played a couple of real baller passes during pre-season too. Where is this Harry Winks the rest of the time?

I think he was being restricted by Moaninho. His usual way of playing used to be to look for the forward pass first then sideways if there was no option, but to keep the ball moving. That's how I felt he played tonight, getting back to his former ways. Long may it continue!

To be honest, I don't think I saw as clearly as I do now how much Mourinho was shafting us while in the moment. Just wanting to be behind the team and whatever were trying to do more than anything. In hindsight though you can see how much he shackled so many players and our playstyle. Even in playing counter attacking vs City, it wasn't Jose-ball drudgery. There was intensity and purpose and a will to go to the wall for the man next to you, even in these early days. Long may it continue to develop. And best of luck to Harry Winks for turning his time around, because he's got some way to come back from with most, but if he can play like tonight, then fair play. Limited opposition it may be, but as much as anything it was that he was intending to do the right things, rather than just the sideways recycling he's become synonymous with.

THIS!

I wasn't Mourinho fan but support the club and hoped he would do well. However, his football is very negative and he restricts the way the players play. I really hope that HW gets back to the way he used to play pre Jose. Tonight he showed enough of his former playing style to make me hopeful!

It really was a nice sequence. He was quite good tonight. If only we could play a mid table Portuguese side every night.

Winks once dominated a midfield away at Barcelona. Yes they weren't their full first team, but it was a bloody good team in the champions league under huge pressure.

People act like he is the worst player in history, when he really isn't. He was excellent 3 years ago, like Dele or Dier for example, and in the right game and system can be a very useful player.

Some of the abuse of our players is disgraceful. Telling them to "get out of my club you useless c**t" etc Then the same people were crying when Kane wants to leave, accusing him of disloyalty. It runs both ways!

I've got a lot of respect for him.

He'll be aware of what's been said about him in the press and on the boards. He can probably earn more elsewhere. A lot of fans want him gone.

He puts on the shirt with his name on the back and plays in front of 60k yet he gets accused of cowardice by people who hide behind avatars. It's kind of ironic.

This system suits him. I hope he stays.

Better performance tonight, although it was against very limited opposition

Considering that he played poorly last week and better this week against that same limited opposition, the improvement is noted and appreciated.

He played well but let's not get carried away, he's been woeful for years now.

He's still a very limited player, and we should sell if we get an offer.

He played ok but there were a fair few Winks-isms, that better opposition would have shown up. Given that he played tonight and the gossip around Sissoko & Aurier, I guess the club have decided those two (and Ndombele) and the priority exits and they can sort out Winks another window?

We've been woeful for years! Does that mean that we sell everybody except son (who can go weeks being woeful) and kane? If we sold every player that the denizens of SC wanted gone we wouldn't have any players left!

Nuno seems very keen on resting his CMs on Thursday nights. Winks comes into play here, especially with HG status.

Winks wants to fight for his place and I respect that. I reckon he'll assess his future in January.
