My feeling is the same as yours. But in practice he does not have this obligation, in the same way that he "should" have warned us about this deadline, he can point and say "You should have sold me to the City when I asked, the fault that i have one year left of contract is yours (Levy)"
Honestly I’m almost in the crowd for him to leave now, because I think he does not make any deal in the short term unless our team is incredibly well, and this is asking too much of a coach in his first year. Next year he can choose his club and put a huge amount in his pocket as a signing bonus.
If he gives up now without notice, he has wasted months of work from others, and that is his responsibility and he is not a child anymore, just a man in a great position with a complex decision to make, and that should have already been made.
Is August too late to move? Let me discuss with my wife in July about this hypothetical scenario and decide a deadline to the move, if he did, this is called planning and would be the correct action for him and everyone involved (including the clubs).

Professional athletes are people, it's too often forgotten. In the US here an mlb pitcher recently agreed a move from Detroit to LA only to change his decision about 30 minutes before the trade deadline. He would have received more money, move to a better team and (arguably) to a better city. But, he discussed it with his family and they came to the conclusion that they didn't want to move their family across the country and away from their support. These decisions are complicated.

Kane didn't flirt with anyone last season. I'm pretty sure it was quiet on that front as things were looking positive under Conte and with CL football.
As I've said elsewhere a year is a long time in football and it's possible we are a better prospect for him than Man Utd by next summer.

That’s my point I guess. If it was a foregone conclusion and not even the potential of him changing his mind then I think at least a few people would know already.

Everyone questioning why would we accept if Kane was going to turn it down. Would that not be the ultimate PR stunt. It completely controls the narrative. If we didn't accept the story would be we held him hostage and stifled his career. They would point to future top players and say do you want to go to a Club that will hold.you hostage (the approach has hurt palace with how they was about Zaha as see olise release clause). If kane rejects bayern and has a statement about wanting to see the season out with spurs etc etc it stops all the noise for a year puts pressure on Levy to back the manager and push us on as a club. It would be the perfect storm and would force Levy to and wake up the fan base. Kane really holds the future of our club in his hands

It's not actually that unprofessional. You have to factor several things in. First Bayern dragging their heels over the deal rather than show how much they wanted him. That could easily have put him off them. Add to that how public they went and basically said if he doesn't join he isn't a man of his word. Then you have to consider that he has started to work with Ange for the first time. It's perfectly understandable that he has been won over and has more confidence than say 3 weeks ago. Maybe just maybe he left his options open as wasn't sure how things will shape under yet another manager. Maybe as the signings have started to add up he's more and more confident in the way things are going. The ever changing window can totally change a players mind. I mean 3 weeks ago we would be talking about Lo Celso being sold for example. Now he's definitely staying and played a role in our new Argentine striker coming over. I myself have been surprised how quickly the football has turned around under Ange. He could feel something special brewing and have second thoughts.

After last night’s cup draw, 4 of our first 5 games this season are away from home and all against EPL opposition. Our only home game is against Man Utd. This place could be pretty gloomy come the end of the month.
But I’m sure we’ll win a couple of those first 4 league games, get past Fulham in the cup, sign a couple of new heroes with the Kane money and all will be well. Things always work out for Tottenham Hotspur…

100%, surely best option for him now is to stay. There's a reason no one thinks he'll go Bayern in Jan or next summer, and that's because the aren't the best option for him.
If he goes it'll be due to some pushing from either Levy, or him wanting to leave the club on decent terms and for a decent fee.

Every single day that this drags on Spurs barganing position is weakened and unless Spurs are ripping up the league between now and January (lol) Kane will not sign a new deal. This means he is gone on a free next summer and Spurs will have no say in it whatsoever.
Charlie, whilst being a moron can tie his own shoes which means he is clever enough to know that as soon as the window closes at the end of this month they are in complete control and can (and will) block any deal in January because they can wait six months and then sign for whomever they want and will take a Brink's truck full of cash that should be in the clubs coughers.
