BBC headline " Harry Kane: Tottenham striker in quarantine but expected to be fit for England".

Do we really care if he is not fit for England, personally wonder with so much trouble over travelling why are these games taking place.

They haven’t made that measure available to regular members of the public. You can take the test if you like, but the gov won’t give two hoots about the result, you still need to isolate.

I thought the Premier League Clubs we’re paying for their own tests.

International play should not be taking place at the moment and neither should European competition, really. It's all about the money but at some point, they need to look at what is happening around Europe and the world and make the right decision for peoples health. If they would look at what a cluster fuck baseball returning in the US has turned out to be(which is the closest example to what int'l competition & European competition will be due to the size of the US), I doubt these would be held.

Huge baseball fan here, It's a shit show of epic proportions, over 40 games have been cancelled due to covid, one team (marlins) have had more than half of their team contract it in a week after playing a series against the phillies. This meant that the phillies had to cancel their games which meant that the teams playing them lost games that had to be made up at some point during the season. They refused a bubble and this is what happens (although they will most likely do a bubble for the playoffs). I just think that teams playing across europe is a massive mistake. I know the US is way behind everyone else in Covid but all it takes is england playing an infected denmark player, coming back and infecting the rest of our team and boom we are fucked

Totally agree , this is from The Daily Telegraph , it's just madness in a close contact sport like football playing games in other countries, the Europa League and Champions League have worked OK but it is still a big risk..

England will play Iceland in Reykjavik on September 5, in their first fixture for 10 months, and the host nation's plan is to permit 5,000 fans inside their 9,000-capacity national stadium. The fans would be separated into blocks of 500 with specific entrances and toilet facilities.

Just a silly sensationalized story by the bus-stop wanker press /MSM.... if hes back next week in training as they all are saying means hes already been on self quarantine for a week before now as its 14 days...

If hes back next week there is no drama really ... "Chill Winston"

I’m sure they are, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the government would allow an exemption when it comes to a player returning from a holiday to a country on their isolation list.

I don't think anyone has a fucking clue considering the rules seem to change with the colour of the sky at the moment.

Isn't Iceland basically Covid-free? There aren't many safer places England could be going.

Maybe for fans, for players the risk is minimal. Go on a private flight, to a booked out hotel to play a football side with the players with similar quarantine regulations. While the rate of infection and deaths in the UK has finally reached a low point (I don't think a sustainable one mind, but this is another story) it's still one of the worst countries in Europe for rate of infection. Staying in the UK is more dangerous than travelling to other countries by in large.

Personally I do, as I really want him to break the England scoring record. It might not seem like much now, but in 20 years, Spurs fans who haven't even been born yet, will be proud to see a Spurs player as England's all time record goal scorer.

I know you can twist stats to mean anything but Iceland looks more dangerous than the UK , according to this site https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ , Iceland has had 2058 cases of Covid out of a population of 341,556 that makes 0.60% of the population have had the virus, the UK has had 324,601 cases of covid with a population of 67,936,614 that makes 0.47% of population have had the virus , I have struck Iceland off my places to visit :)

If its Jimenez then I want him starting alongside Kane, not on the bench. He's not a bench player. Especially at 50m.
Thought I would move this to the Kane thread to respond but out of interest, who would you see Jimenez replacing in our first 11? Personally I think Jimenez/Kane would be a good partnership but having two strikers would have a negative effect on Son's game and probably Moura too. Two strikers would likely spell the end of Alli being a nailed on starter in a front three/four and I don't see Alli being good played deep either.

Other rumoured options such as Ings and Wilson will require being played in the middle up front and wouldn't offer a great deal playing either side of Kane. The trouble for us is bringing someone in that can play alongside Kane but also replacing him when injured/rotated. Another Son type or someone similar to Mane would be the perfect option but there aren't many players around that we can afford right now. Werner would have been perfect but that's dead in the water. Hopefully if we can sort the HG issues out with our defensive signings then we can maybe shop in the European leagues for another attacker.
