Following the gossip in the BBC column about Harry being involved in decision making in a bid to keep him....does anybody think that the reason that Conté's still here is Harry saying not yet ? He was well in favour of AC's appointment as I recall

As much as I love Harry, players should never be in the conversation where managers are concerned.

The 20 blanks at HT from 25 would explain that. We play shit footy and we don't even score on the counter as much as we used to. You're underestimating how much people pay to be there.
Likewise I would say that you underestimate how such an atmosphere can affect the players performance. It's a vicious circle.

Why have so many gone into panic mode? We are still doing better than Chelsea and Liverpool and have every chance to be making the top 4. We should assess the season once it ends? Isn‘t this negativity far too premature? Would we have thought to reach the round of 16 in the CL this time one year ago?

I think some of us need a reality check. I am not sure what this negativity is all about, but it doesn‘t help anyone in the next step.

I really hope Conte mixes things up today and the players put a couple of goals past Nottingham.
It’s not panic mode, it’s a heavy dose of realism!

The results are falling off and the football is shite!

The manager doesn’t look like he wants to be here, and has started slagging off the club, players and fans.

The players are starting to speak out against the manager.

What really is the point of prolonging the relationship?!

We were always going to beat forest at home. Even a 4 nil win doesnt change the fact that he should have been dismissed in the last few days.

I actually think Conte is spot on with his embargoed comments. The fanbase is ridiculously impatient. He has consistently called for time and patient to build a squad that compete for 'important' things. But because he is Antonio Conte most fans thought he would be challenging for trophies immediately.

The problem is that the fan's impatience and general toxicity stems from:

Arsenal being in a title challenge
Him constantly calling out the board
The football being pragmatic
His contract situation
Him not showing any real affection for the club
General negativity towards Levy/ENIC

The contract situation is a weird one as it's unclear whether Conte has refused to commit or that the club hasn't offered an extension. Although if he had signed for 3 years I still think the impatience would be there because of the other factors.

I really find it hard to see how he turns it around from here. Home matches are going to be toxic and the players' confidence on the floor. Without a doubt if he loses today he is gone.
I fully agree with this. The guy wants to win and if he thought he could he'd sign for longer.

Football hasn't been great but if we get top 4 again he's over achieved with this squad two years in a row.

What's the point in that.

His target this year was probably top 4 and then build in the summer. The football is shit and yet we're in the top 4. He'll go in the summer and I look forward to the pelters at levy. Worst case he goes to the summer and gives us time to plan our next move and try and get it right.

Regardless of how I feel towards him staying or going, it's nice seeing him celebrate our goals as he has done today. Hope he's in better health.
