England is playing really boring football at the moment. Do they normally play this slow with the ball?

EDIT: better now.

I thought this England team were meant to be better at playing out from the back but I'm not seeing it so far.

Some proper John Smiths defending so far means we're really struggling to retain possession. Missing Stones' cool head.

You just have to love Kane's shooting. Always hits the target! Lovely by Carroll before the shot as well.

Who's having the better of this so far? And do we think England will win?

Not a fan of Englands extremely slow build-up play. The centre backs passing to each other, followed by a horrible back pass to the keeper. Why aren't they trying to involve the midfield more?

Portugal i'd say, though no ones really dominated.

England sitting back a little too much leaving Kane isolated, but some nice glimpses of play around the box though.

We have to keep Carroll in the squad next season, he's definitely matured since being out on loan.

We're not going to win this playing as we are, we need to start getting Kane into the game.

Put JWP at CAM to occupy Carvalho and bring Pritchard on for Redmond.

I'm still concerned with whether he can own the pitch and really dictate the play at the top level but I am happy for us to given him a chance next season in our first team squad.

I found that half pretty disappointing to be honest. Fair enough, Portugal look the more technically proficient group, but England are sitting too deep and neither putting pressure on the ball nor being compact and hard to break down. With the ball there is far too much hoofing and Kane is isolated.

Apart from the minute at the end of the half, is it just me or is Carroll the only one showing any intelligence, willingness to pick up space and try and play a bit of football?

The two wide players look alright if they get the ball with time and space, but you have to get it to them. Kane has had a couple of nice touches but needs better service. Ward-Prowse and Chalobah have been pretty meh. The back four look pretty limited players.

I'd like to see us get the ball down and play more in the second half.

I was expecting a bit better from England. Look quite shaky at the back and a bit sloppy in possession. Harry has been making some decent runs. Could do with an early cross when he peels off. Not really getting the service from out wide. Carroll doing quite well.

On my stream the idiot presenter just said that Utd have bid £40m for Kane and Levy is holding out for £50m

I wouldn't be against him staying. Not sure whether he's 1st team quality but he's certainly going to get game time considering all the cup games, and you never know. I'd have more faith in him than Paulinho or Capoue.
