In terms of a European order looking at a whole current state of clubs the only clubs I obviously see being above us are Barcelona ( although that’s a house of cards) Real PSG Bayern City Liverpool. Then it starts becoming a bit of debate. On a lot of criteria we are ahead of Juve but obviously they still have massive pull. I guess you’d still overall have to put United and Chelsea ahead of us. After that I really don’t see anyone obviously being ahead of us. So that pretty much leaves us 8th.
It depends what criteria you're comparing. If it's trophies, history, global fan base etc. then we are very much in the second tier of European clubs (behind Man U, Liverpool, and I hate to say it Chelsea, but they've now had 20 years of success, Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter, Bayern. If it is revenue, infrastructure, current playing squad and manager then we are very much at the top table, and only behind the financially doped clubs (Man C and PSG).

Oh for those parochial days!
Unfortunately the betting markets today are overwhelmingly controlled by offshore. Particularly sports betting, in USA and Asia.
That's interesting to learn. Surely it still draws from fan bias though? The bets are being made predominantly by fans rather than analysts and will naturally have that level of "fandom" worked in. If there are Spurs fans than Juventus fans in Asia for example, that must have a pull on the odds if they "bet with their heart" as it were.

In terms of the rest of the post I'm in agreement. I've long been a believer in the organic growth that we have had and I think it sees us with a very rosy future. Perhaps we can assume from the betting odds that our global fan base is growing, which is certainly a good thing.

I wonder if the club has sent Bastoni a link to oddschecker?!

I am sure that fans still gamble, but there are an enormous amount of syndicate in Asia and around the world
for whom its all about the money and the edge. Where if they can make a buck they are not too scrupulous.
Furthermore they are incredibly dispassionate and analytical. For them its a business.
I would imagine at their extreme, these guys get involved in match fixing in all sports. Now again by no means the majority but they are out there.
Anyway i have probably rambled on too much but, like you i am a huge fan of our organic growth, long may it continue!

We’re specifically talking about the odds of winning the CL though. What’s striking is where we rank there right now.

As eighth favourites we are expected to be the worst team in the quarter finals, not particularly earth shattering as I'd expect us to make the final sixteen and then it comes down to the luck of the draw.
Our previous record is final, quarters, last sixteen twice, and once not past the group stage so about right.

Yeah totally. What’s nice is that for the first time in about 60 years it is about right.

looks like we can spend at least another 100m

Blimey! Arsenal and West Ham are spending big this year (well, arsenal spending big again).
Mad how much money is in the PL and yet Everton and Leicester appear to be brassic.

They appear to have fallen foul of the rules that don't apply to Man City, Barca or PSG. We are however very well run.

Isn't it also top team for points that doesn't qualify gets in also next season? Or was that scrapped.
The team coefficient was scrapped. It’s based on country coefficients for the year from 2024 on. Top 2 countries will get an extra place. Last year was England and Holland. Suppose it’ll help make teams take the other competitions a bit more seriously

The commercial side of this growing womens game must be huge. You’re going to have a whole new potential market in terms of young girls wanting to support a club. You would assume if a little girl is from a Spurs family she would pick Spurs to support. You’re looking at half the population as a potential growing market. Obviously it’s not half the population exactly as some already support a club and others still won’t be interested. But you get my drift I hope.

The poster I replied to wasn't though, they were assessing us "In terms of a European order looking at a whole current state of clubs".
