Weird.

8th round - HBO comms are favouring Calzaghe, BBC are saying he's well behind

Calzaghe just hit a low blow & when Hopkins doubled over...err...how can I put this...?

...Joe pretended to bum him.

Go Joe!

Missed 1st 2 rounds trying to find a stream. HBO got JC 6-3 up before 10th. Close as fuck, though.

hopkins interview in the ring was a joke, claiming he embaressed calzaghe. and pretending he got hurt with the low blow was embaressing.

Good result for JC, shame Hopkins was a bit of a bad loser. Fair enough if you don't think the result was right but he showed no respect to Calzaghe, gave him no credit & called him an "amateur" - seemed to think that it was only 'Brits' who called the fight for Calzaghe. Yeah, the Brits & the judges.

Good fight though, extremely close. As I say, could have gone either way so really the only thing Hopkins has to be ashamed of is not giving credit where its due.

I have to admit I was surprised Calzaghe won that. Vegas judges can make the most one sided fight look close on points - e.g. Lewis-Holyfield.

I listened to it on the radio. Duke Mckensie had Hopkins ahead by three rounds the other commentator had it six rounds each but with that big first round it means that Hopkins won on his card too. However I'm really pleased that Joe got the decision Hopkins is a scrappy, boring defensive fighter and it would be disappointing for Joe to lose his record to a fighter like that.

Like I said earlier though, BBC had Hopkins well ahead but the HBO commentators had Calzaghe winning 116-111. Personally, I'm rubbish at scoring fights so I haven't the foggiest.

Still, glad JC won as he was more aggressive & B-Hop :)lol:) was giving it a tad too much *...ahem...* gamesmanship.

Just got home from my mates house, I had Calzaghe 114-113 (7-5, take a point away for the knockdown) the right decsion imo, I'm well pleased cos I was so sure he was gonna get screwed by the judges.

Poor fight, Calzaghe wasn't at his best tonight but still got the job done so fair play to him. Mentioned in an earlier post about not being too impressed about Joe Cortez being the ref, did anyone see the amount of holding he let Hopkins away with when in the Hatton fight he was having none of it?

This victory opens a few more doors for Calzaghe. There's talk of a bout with Roy Jones, who I think would be perfect for Joe cause he likes to come forward and Joe would be able to pick him apart with counter shots, it'd be a huge money spinner.

How in the hell did he win that fight. Not because he didn't deserve to, because IMO he did... But he just got a close call IN VEGAS!!!

Not a great fight... but great result for Calzaghe. Loved Hopkins after his Inside Sport with Bunce, can't stand him after his post match bollocks.

Just managed to see about four rounds of the fight. Joe got up straight away when he got knocked down he wasn't dazed or hurt like the radio commentary said he was. Hopkins never did anything else that round. Calzaghe was far from his best but he always coming forward and looking busy, while Hopkins does a hell of a lot of holding. Its hard for any boxer to look good fighting him.

Watched it last night and was surprised that Calzaghe got the decision.

Watched it again this morning on Setanta and it was probably just about the right result. Calzaghe was the more aggressive fighter and definately landing more punches (even if they are a bit 'slappy') in the later rounds.

Hopkins was hoping to put on a show like Mayweather did against Hatton. That certainly didn't happen, though from the post-fight interview he seems to think it did.

The ref was a fucking joke. Like they said on Setanta, how can you let a fighter hold that much and yet not let Hatton hold in any shape or form? Cortez is a disgrace.
