Massive fight Saturday night - though it is getting nowhere near the hype of Hatton Mayweather.

Very hard to call this one. Hopkins is more celebrated and hasn't lost in around 14 years! Calzaghe has never lost.

Neither are huge punchers but both very technical. Hopkins (orthrodox) is 43 but keeps himself very fit and is a wily old fox - Calzaghe (southpaw) is 36 but has fragile hands.

An intriguing one - I think Calzaghe takes a decision - and finally gets some American recognition.

Anyone staying up to watch it?

p.s. I love the way the Yanks pronounce Bernard "Bernaaaaard"

Should this be in other sports.

Calzaghe all the way, or at least I hope.

Will he retire after this though?

I think Calzaghe will win comfortably and then maybe take another big payoff fight against Roy Jones Jr, before retiring undefeated and very wealthy.

Yea I'll be staying up for this, can't wait. I'd love to see Hopkins sat on his ass as he seems a cocky wotsit. Come on Joe!

I could be wrong (and if i wasn't too lazy i'd look it up, but i'm sure Hopkins was undisputed middleweight champion for about fifteen years since when he's lost four times. In other words he's lost four times in recent years, not none in fourteen.

actually yeah that's right. oops. he lost twice to jermaine taylor (both very controversial - it looked to me as if he'd won both) and the last one he lost before that was to Roy Jones Junior ages over a decade ago.

I can't think who the other loss might have been.

But it is true that he made an unprecedented 20 title defences

He lost his very first professional fight against Clinton Mitchell by majority decision.

Calzaghe ftw!!!!

Hopkins best days are behind him, can't see him being able to deal with Calzaghe's speed. Would rather if the ref wasn't Joe Cortez though, he made a right **** of the Hatton fight.

Calzaghe will throw too many punches for it to go any other way.

I think Hopkins has got one more big fight left in him and wont be a pushover. Calzaghe has never fought at this weight but I think is strong enough to go the distance. Hopkins shades it for me but I'll be cheering Calzaghe.

I think this fight has decision written all over it and I just have a bad feeling that Hopkins might get that decision.

Hope I'm wrong.

I doubt he'll want to fight Kessler, again.

There's no reason for him to fight Kessler again. Kessler would have to move up a weight, and I can't see that happening because with Calzaghe out of the super-middleweight picture, Kessler should be top dog, as they were clearly the best two in that division. I'm not sure Calzaghe will want to fight at super-mid again after tonight's fight.

A fight against Antonio Tarver might be the follow up to tonight, if and when Joe wins, if he wants to have a go at unifying the light heavyweight titles. There is also Chad Dawson who is the WBC title holder who imo would provide a tougher test than Tarver.

Or he might just decide to knock it all on the head after this fight. It's his decision.
