"It's the bad players who are a luxury" D. Blancheflower.

Eriksen played to his strengths was head and shoulders above everyone else at Tottenham last season.

He's a passenger. If he was at Chelski, Mourinho wouldn't tolerate it.

It might be we're playing too many offensive players at the moment, but it doesn't matter where you play, you've got to want it, you've got to be up for the challenge and you've got to work for each other. He's not good enough to warrant being carried by the rest of the team (and the team's not enough either!).

But the "Head and Shoulders" is obviously working great for him this year!

Isn't it the managers job to get the best out of his players?
Adjust and tweak existing systems to allow hugely talented players like Eriksen to flourish!

We are not Chelsea. If we could afford Hazard I would prefer him to Eriksen. If it is a choice between Eriksen and a player with less talent and more stamina, I'll take Eriksen.

Thanks for clarifying. Its got nothing to do with whether we have Hazard or not. Being talented and fighting for your team are not mutually exclusive.

I think someone like Modric should be an example to this current team. Modric is a player of small stature, but putting his fantastic footballing brain and ability to one side, Modric always put his body in between the opposition and the ball. I see Modric and Eriksen as complete opposites. Working and playing hard is a decision you make as a player. Eriksen is a complete luxury, who's forward play is inconsistent, whereas Modric is the complete package.

You never know, Eriksen is young, but I seriously doubt we'd ever be able to change his attitude and make him battle.
Talk about rise and fall: he was our best player last season near enough. I'm not having a pop at your post but it's amazing how much he seems to have gone from hero to (not quite) zero.

Southampton fans don't make a noise if you do something good or bad it's easier to play without pressure in that environment, rather than at the Lane where at best you'll get groaned at every game at worst booed until you no longer want the ball to come to you.

Having said that we do seem to have accrued a fair share of dummies in our squad which is (seemingly) slowing the process somewhat, the truth is probably somewhere between the two (idiot players and demanding fans...)

“At the moment in the Premier League he’s trying to adapt to Mauricio Pochettino’s way of playing, which is different to other managers’, but he’s a very gifted player – there’s no doubt about that.”

That is a very strange quote allowed on the OS. A bit like Ade's quote. What exactly is MoPo trying to achieve?

Eriksen has no bottle or desire when the going gets tough and his set pieces of late have been absolutely atrocious. It's all good having skilful players but he just doesn't turn up in games against the bigger teams.
I disagree. I actually think he is trying harder this season to not be the wimp he was last season. Unfortunately this is affecting his creativity. He won a tackle for was it the Arsenal goal?
I like him. His free kicks are monster.

I think he's our most talented player.

You can really see how good he is when there is good movement around him.

Take Man City (a). He was brilliant in that game and we looked such a threat going forward because Soldado, Lamela and Chadli interchanged so well and were full of energy and inventiveness.

I've said it before, I really don't know why that front 4 hasn't started together in the league since.

Everyone (even insiders at Spurs) seems to describe Poch's style of play somewhat uncommon and difficult to implement.

At Southampton, Poch got his squad to grasp his methods with ease (and even pleasure), which involved the very infamous strenuous double training sessions. His "special" methods resulted in playing some really exciting football, pressing high with plenty of flair.

At White Hart Lane, the almost opposite is happening...

Why are Poch's methods so difficult to grasp for the Spurs players?

Are the players square pegs and does Poch's style of play represent round holes? Are the players simply stupid? Lazy? Or was it just a one-off season at Southampton?

Bingo :)

Yeah, all our players are stupid and lazy.. not.
The title is manager.

If he can't manage managing how about a bit of coaching?

YES!!! It is insane that we have not seen the four together again.

I could not think of 2 worse players than Kaboul & Ade being made senior figures. What on earth was Poch thinking? Talk about signing your own death wish appointing them 2.....

So is this the reason why poch teams are not winning the they should be winning and scoring enough goals

It was an attempt to cure him of it.

I think it was a brave but ultimately foolhardy move. Thinking you can cure Ade of his attitude at this stage is like Rodgers thinking he's the man to 'fix' Balotelli. Naive.

There's a lot to like about Poch (and I know you're very keen on him Thinktank), but that was a spectacular misfire.

I don't think he was head and shoulders above everyone, but he was certainly better than he's been this season.

Either way, what he did last season is pretty much irrelevant. So far this season, for whatever reason, he's been largely useless and unfortunately he's one of those players who if he isn't on his game, you may as well not have him on the pitch at all.

Like I said he's a gifted player and I hope we can build a team that starts to get the best out of him, but this season for me he's been one of our worst performers and wouldn't be in my starting XI at the moment.
