It's funny that so many of you are complaining about the timing of these games. It's not like we employ fitness and conditioning experts or anything who's job it would be to advise on matters like these...oh, wait...

The cynic in me might argue that the advice of the fitness and conditioning experts likely comes second to the advice of the money men as far as Daniel Levy is concerned. That's not to say he disregards the fitness experts advice completely, but perhaps it's a case of the money being too good to turn down or the potential disruption to the start of our season being worth the risk for the money being offered. Certainly, I'd be amazed if this wasn't a money decision first and a footballing decision second.

But then again what do I know? Perhaps Pochettino and his team might feel we will benefit from playing against such high profile, high quality opposition abroad a few days before the start of the season. It would be interesting to hear what they (really) believe.

I was against it but now i think i like the Audi Cup. Hopefully travelling and playing in a simulated big match environment will get the players in the right mentality before the visit to OT. Fitness-wise it might even be a relief over Poch training sessions.

FML. Are you ever positive about anything Francis? I've resisted this up until now but since I've seen you on this site all you've done is bitch and complain about everything. What the heck is wrong with you man?

ok as a fully paid up member of the glee club you tell me - how based on this window so far, not just due to our total lack of ambition but also the strengthening of those above and around, he finishes 4th?

Oh I'm sorry Francis, did I say at any stage that we're going to finish 4th? My point was simply that you are a horribly negative football fan and it's not like you've occasionally got something positive to say because you don't. It just makes me wonder, if it's all so bad at our club and you're so utterly disillusioned with it all then why bother? why follow Spurs at all? Why follow any club other than Chelsea or Man City?

As it goes I don't necessarily think we will finish 4th but I've still got hope and hope is a wonderful thing if you just allow yourself to do it. It doesn't actually matter if you end up disappointed at the end of it all, that's just part of the crazy dance that is being a football supporter. I'd rather hope and feel sad at the end than to get some hollow satisfaction at saying I told you we wouldn't do it. How depressing.

Look I'm not going to start some boring, drawn out debate with you that everyone else will just find annoying because we're never going to agree. You don't want me to convince you because even if I actually could say the right thing to win you over, I highly doubt you'd admit to it so let's not waste each other's time. I simply wondered if there was a specific reason or event that led you to being such a miserable bastard ;).

you almost lost me at the horribly stereotypical 'why dont you support Chelsea or Man City' comment but nevertheless ........
just so I have this right - you think I am quite likely to be correct in my opinion but you dont like the fact that
my likely to be correct opinion is negative? - that about right?
Therefore my opinion on this and in fact most of the other posts you refer to aren't actually negative but I believe to be correct, although more than happy to pulled up or any which are factually incorrect.
I guess it boils down to wanting a level of realism versus the 'sun will come out tomorrow impervious glee club mentality.
I want the former every time, but each to their own.

Odd.little.tournament in that we as a club seem really out of place in it. But its nice to see the chicken badge mingle with such prestige.
Which I suppose was the plan rather than fitness, raise the awareness of the club

Come on Francis, let's not start twisting each other's posts to suit our agenda.

I didn't say why don't you go and support another club. I said why support any club other than one of the top 2 because at least then you would get all the ambition and glory that will seemingly keep you happy. It just strikes me that supporting Spurs is a bit hard going for you and if it makes you so painfully unhappy then why bother? But hey, you dont have to answer that though if you don't want to.

I also have no idea how you got from me saying that I can't be bothered to try and convince you to drop your negative ways and have a bit of hope in your life to that must mean that I think you're correct all the time. That's mind blowing and frankly rather odd.

I don't agree with you even remotely. I think we've shown ambition by signing Alderweireld but I prefer our more careful and considered approach to transfers this window. I bet we looked ambitious when we signed the magnificent 7 and look how that turned out. I bet Liverpool looked ambitious last summer and do again this summer but that's harly bearing fruit is it? In fact I think they're absolutely mental and would be embarrassed if I was Liverpool fan. I get the impression you'd be loving it if that was us. Also, surely our deal with the NFL, our stadium plans shown huge ambition, do they not?

Being negative doesn't equal realism. Equally having a little hope for the season ahead doesn't equal blind optimism. We all want realism but you just need to go ahead and admit that you get a kick out of complaining. It's ok dude, there are plenty of people out there that are only happy when they're moaning about something. I enjoy the occasional moan too but for me it's normally cos my neighbours are too noisy or something like that.

As I say, we'll have to agree to disagree cos i'm never gonna be as miserable as you and you're never going to agree with my outlook on the club either.

We applied to move the United game to the Sunday because we were concerned it was too close to the Audi cup, which doesn't suggest it was particularly well timed.

Is anyone else a little bit worried about this? If Real turn it on, they could seriously tonk us. We are a young team and improving but I am seeing 6... 7-0 scorlines in my head.

They are light years ahead of us, two of ourbest players for the last 20 years (perhaps longer) are in their team. If they play full strength, I will be bricking it a bit. Going to Old Trafford with a young team after getting smashed could put a real wobble on our season.

I hope I am wrong! On the plus side it will be interesting to see the likes of Kane and Bentaleb against world class players, to see just how close they are.

Little Tommy Carroll with a beautiful goal. Slipped through the offside trap and Trippier slid an incisive pass and Carroll passed it into the bottom corner.

Awful decision to ask our guys to play 180 mins in what was always likely to see our stripped down clubs ripped apart by the best teams in the world and enter the season completely demoralized. Just no good reason for being there other than lining our pockets...

I thought we made a good showing of ourselves and the youth players all played really well.

We'll find out in a few days time if these matches were the finishing touches on conditioning we needed or if they leave us already behind the eight ball against United.

@Matt_Law_DT: Spurs had a request to fly home tonight turned down. Stuck in Munich until Thursday afternoon. Play #mufc on Saturday lunchtime #thfc

you'd think theyd had a chartered jet for the team returning. But no surprise they're waiting on Ryanair.

Still a nice reality check for cossetted football 'superstars' who don't usually have to mingle with the ordinary public

Nearly a week gone, but have to thank everybody who came to Munich and espacially to Kennedys and our sections 223 & 335, Worked out way better than expected and me and my mates had a great time there. The karaoke evening at Wednesday was a great way to end the trip.
Will add probably some pics and vids when I have time, the atmosphere at the pub before the games was absolutely great. Heard we had over 3000 Spurs fans in Munich, awesome number for a friendly tournament.
Hope we will draw a german or swiss team in the Europa League.
