I
You talk about no injuries but poor Benny Blanco's career could've been ended here...

It's 100% coached by Arteta. He uses all these out of the box methods yet people don't think he would go as far as to tell them to cheat? Of course he does.

It's such a shame that this has been allowed to get this far.

Totally ruins the sport but is now justified as "winners mentality"

Does anybody know if the date and time for the goons game is likely to change. Trying to book my mums 91st birthday gig and it has to work around the footy.

Whichever way you look at it, only conceding 4 goals in 10 matches is annoyingly impressive. :cautious:

They have the best defensive record and don't play gunho kids style football leaving huge gaps behind the fullbacks

A mate of mine said if that was Son you’d be screaming for a pen and I said I honestly wouldn’t. I’d be annoyed he didn’t cheat better. Real time it did look stone wall tbf.

I'd be fuming. No better alternative to just putting the ball in the bloody net.

To be honest, I don’t agree with the feeling that he could’ve just sticked it in the back of the net, I think there’s a reason why he went for the pen and that was because, imo, there was that guy covering back on the inside and if he had cut inside he likely would’ve got tackled. Maybe if his touch was perfect and he took the shot straight away (even though he still would’ve been quite far out) he would’ve scored but it defintly wasn’t a clear cut easy goal imo.

I just watched it again and yeah, there was more of a crowd engaging on him than I can remember so I agree that it's not a 100% goal, but there's most certainly more of a chance to score than if you do happen to get caught diving so for that reason I'd still be pretty fuming. You are right though in that his first touch was poor and made the opportunity more difficult, but I still think he judged the situation poorly. I'm not sure you often see players doing that from a central position, from my memory it's normally when their touch takes them away from goal that they initiate contact or choose to go down rather than staying on their feet.

I agree with what you’re saying generally but as my old man always used to say, if you get caught cheating make sure you cheat better next time. Saka could’ve easily got a pen there if his cheating technique wasn’t so obvious. He didn’t even leave a leg in he kinda lunged into him at nearly full tilt. Neuer stuck his leg out, if Saka made sure he clipped his boot instead of lunging himself at his thigh/knee I think most refs give that as a pen.

Yeah true mate, you'd think he would have perfected the art of diving by now too. In all seriousness though, the thought of diving was probably too prominent in his mind, so it resulted in him trying too hard for it. He didn't feel the contact and choose to go down from it, he chose to move his leg to feel the contact and go down from that.
