I write this as I sit in a busy forecourt seating area working.

There's an Arsenal fan sitting at the table next to me, he's loud as fuck. His lunch buddy doesn't seem to be interested in football but he's humouring him by listening to the conversation anyway.

Oh, the Arsenal fan is constantly speaking with his mouth full as well, which is just a lovely noise altogether as well.

Quote 1: It's just so unfair. We've been the best team all season. Saliba getting injured is so unfair. We'd have smashed City last night with him at the back. City just kept the ball and or boring to watch. We're exciting.

Quote 2: United could finish ahead of us, 3 games in hand won't be shocked if we continue this crap run. Even Chelsea who are crap under Lampard could beat us now. Newcastle as well and we've to still play them.

Quote 3: City might lose at the weekend before they play Madrid, and we could be 5 points clear again, but I hope they beat United in the FA Cup final. 5 points clear but City still have 2 games in hand but you never know.

Quote 4: Liverpool and Newcastle and Chelsea will all be better next season and maybe Spurs but as well, it was a chance this season. But at least we got St Totteringham Day this year. That's a trophy in itself.

All within about 4 bites of his chicken fillet roll.

put an empty bottle on the table and say 'i heard you'd lost yours'.

Commentary on BT was unbearable tonight. Kept banging on about what a young side they are and how well they've done just to be there despite them mocking us as bottlejobs non-stop for years when we did exactly the same thing (minus actually being in a position to bottle the title).

At one point the commentator literally said "all they've done wrong is not quite be perfect, because Man City are perfect" - fuck off they've literally dropped points in four successive games at the business end of the season and conceded 11 goals in those four games, when have you ever seen a team go on such a poor run of form and end up winning the title? Lots of sloppy mistakes from them tonight, both individually and tactically - was like men against boys.

Not counting my chickens just yet but after the way they bottled the CL race last season too then hopefully a narrative will start to appear about the mentality of their players and Arteta if they do it again.
Think it was the same commentator who highlighted that one of their players (Akanji maybe) was relatively cheap and so it wasn't about just spending money. This for a side who must have spent more money on players than pretty any other side in history! Sportswashing works folks.

Not sure I agree.

For the second consecutive season when the pressure is really on, this Arsenal team have just stopped playing. Not only that but their coach has looked clueless.

That's a big worry for them.

They've been fortunate with fixtures and the pathetic form of others and that momentum has carried them but once again as soon as the pressure is on they revert to being a meek team.

That isn't something easily overcome.

Its likely that as soon as they hit this pressure point they remembered last season and its had an effect.
This is the type of thinking that caused our implosion. Not saying you particularly thought like this about Spurs. But a majority of folks went on a bender about winning trophies, leading to serial winners Mourinho and Conte coming in as silver bullets. And the almost inevitable shitshow and lack of identity we have since then.

I dont expect Arsenal to have that kind of tantrum and blow up all their progress. 75 points from 33 games has nothing to do with pathetic form of others, or the fixture calendar. They just win a lot this season. The two buys from city shored up their mentality a bit, though maybe not enough.

The margins are slim at the top. Their blips have been short lived, but this one has been critical. There might yet be another twist in this season's race. But they've a good chance of being in the mix again next season.

I posted the video in the rebuild thread but something interesting in Ornstein's interview. Saliba still hasn't signed his contract due to expire in 2024 and also he was played v Sporting, the game he went off in, with the injury picked up in the previous game. So, Arteta, instead on managing the injury and not playing him in the EL has potentially blown their run in with his management of the player's injury. Amusing.

Lot of the talk now that Arsenal has had an amazing season and that it’s nothing wrong in being beaten by potentially the best ever team in PL history.

We all know the quality of this City team but worth noting that they will finish 1 point better than title winning Chelsea in 16/17 if they win all of their remaining seven games. Even a single draw will make them worse off.

Not only that but had Arsenal taken even just 4 points more from the 3 games they threw away, they'd still be in a great position or at least take it to the wire.

So I'm still not prescribing to any excuses.

If a team leads the PL most of the season they win the league according to this historical graph. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen this time around. Except three times when city nicked in at the end.

I mocked every gooner I know for the entire summer. It was a glorious time.
Enjoy the small victories Riggs.

I did for a week and then remembered the pony lot I support!

They miss out on the league and I’ll be on the hunt, don’t you worry!
