It's funny whenever I see Estadio do Luz (Benfica) and when I went there, the seats and stadium is in pristine condition.

Considering Arsenal modelled their stadium on this, therefore it being newer, it looks shabbier/older.
Actually, the Emirates was designed first but its construction was delayed while Arsenal secured funding. Stadio da Luz was therefore completed first.

I believe that Arsenal are in the process of replacing the seats.

But, meh, anyway. Their interior bowl will never look as good as ours. It's too shallow and has no defining features - which is why they desperately resorted to "Arsenalification". Fnarr, fnarr...

oh I didn't know that. I knew Estadio da Luz had been there longer but I always thought Arsenal saw the design and replicated it.

You learn something everyday.

The good thing is, Portuguese fans are very vocal so for them there are no issues with atmosphere, whereas British fans feed off the performance so they are stuck in a place that lacks soul. Great

Also, like our stadium, Stadio da Luz is steeper. The Emirates' height was limited by planning conditions so their desired 60K capacity could only be achieved by building further horizontally rather than vertically - which is why it lacks the intimidating feel of Benfica's or our stadium.

From Sky Sports...

"Last summer, they weren't in Europe at all and yet Arsenal were the biggest spenders in European football. That was a big show of faith to Mikel Arteta.

"Now they're back in Europe and are backing him again. They see Arteta as the long-term future. I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal spend £140m to £150m by the end of the window like they did last summer."

Keep throwing money out the window ????

Arsemania:

  • Southampton spent near 30m on man city academy players. I don't get how you spent 10m on guy who 18 years old and no experience in top level football PL is spoiled with money but man city fans say he very talented
  • Why are you surprised at clubs paying millions for Man City anon talent. We bought 1 out of 12 assistant coaches from them, spent over 300 Mil on him in addition to the 8.5 Mil/year wage we're paying him. If there's a mug in this equation it's unquestionably us.

Just a friendly reminder for the next few days that we're able to behave better than them and be kinder when it comes to non-football stuff.

To be fair given Covid, start of holiday season, weekday, morning, Wimbledon, Test Match, Ukraine, and there wasn't a game on - that's not a bad attendance (unless Arsenal actually lie about attendance at games - surely not??)

I got it wrong.
Having asked family in Brazil....
'Regarding your question about Gabriel Jesus, well: here in Brazil, there is no controversy in the sports press on this subject.
I believe he's just thanking God, because he's very religious (evangelical), that's all. Probably it is a coincidence with the Statue of the Redeemer in Rio, but only a coincidence.'

All their players just “ look “ so soft and Jesus adds to that Saka Nketiah ESR Odegaard just all look so wet and it’s not just their age. Compare that to Perisic Bissouma Richarlison that look like hard bast*rds.
