They never showed Odegaard speaking in the rooms or trying to rev the boys up.

It was almost always Xhaka.

Could have been the editing I guess, but Odegaard didn't scream "leader"

Just finished AON. What was interesting about the NLD was when Arteta said at the end that he had to go in front of the press and defend the club as best he could - so all the whining about the refereeing costing them the game was merely a deflection.
He also told the players no social media and no shitty stories in the press, so what did that plank Xhaka do straight after - slag of his team mates for a lack of heart to Sky Sports! ?
I just re-watched the speech Arteta makes in the dressing room at HT and FT in the NLD at our place. He says it was a "fucking joke what happened out there." At the same time he said that he would go out there and "defend our club." I'm not sure what he meant by the latter comment but it's pretty clear that the former comment is a dig at the ref or something.

Anyway, they got stomped. That's all that matters.

I finally finished the series at the expense of my sleep.

For once I'm trying to be neutral on them. I actually enjoyed the personal touch of showing Xhaka's and Arteta's families. It brought the warmth and really see the nicer sides of them, rivalry aside. Like what Xhaka mentioned, we only see the 90 minutes side of them. Outside of it, they are just humans. At least Xhaka looked a more grounded guy than many of the rest if I'm honest, and manly took responsibility for all the actions he did on field, no matter how stupid. It's actually quite right if he didn't get sent off against Liverpool in the 1st leg of the League Cup, they would be 1-0 down and possibly more before the returned leg. His leadership unfortunately is so underrated by the scum. He would have achieved much more in other clubs IMHO.

Arteta really spoke very fluently considering Spanish is his first language. And I actually think he's really intelligent. Credit where credit is due, he has had a tough job motivating those players, most of whom I feel are very immature, childish and naive. I mean it's understandable considering the young age of the players. But still too childish. Apply more pressure on them I see them buckle under it yet again this season. And Arteta could have toned down his all-too-often philosophical speech. Younger players have only experienced so little in life wouldn't be expected to take in all these and only get very irritated in the long run from these nags TBH. I even thought his staffs were feeling cringey and impatient already towards the end. The 'not again' looks were like starting to show in their faces..

Arteta still has alot to learn, but clearly he has picked up all these very fast from Pep. With more soft skills learnt as he himself grow in the future, I can honestly see him being quite successful, hopefully not in the scum club. Somehow the way he manages things rung a bell with me personally as I see myself speaking the same language of words as him in my encouragement to others, hence perhaps the reason why I tend to resonate with quite a fair bit of what he did. Or maybe also because I'm still a loser like him lol. ?

But overall is a boring AON. Pricks (bias mode back on). ?

Pretty sure it was Cedric that Lacazette throat grabbed. Unless its a different training ground incident?

Or was Tavares the player Lacazette chopped down in frustration?

But yes... Arteta's style is... grating. Although the players seem to be buying in this season so far...
Yes you are right- it was Cedric in the training ground scuffle. I’m getting the two mixed up!.

Just gone to the last episode, it's so enjoyable watching them crumble again and seeing their pain.

Agree with this. Ironically think he’s a much better player when he isn’t trying to prove how much he’s doing; in his appeal to prove he cares he does daft things. Heart’s in the right place though.

It was the interview after the Newcastle game that Xhaka slagged his team mates off. And not after the NLD.

I liked Xhaka at halftime against Newcastle yelling at the room that they “need[ed] to play like them!” (ie. Newcastle). Telling the room how it was. Thankfully nobody listened.

Can't believe how much credit the Woolwich fans are getting about their "new" saliba song...when it's literally bissoumas song! What a bunch of pricks

Got to say Arsenal playing some great football. Don't count on a meltdown, the players they've bought suit the system. Jesus and Odegaard top class. They'll beat the shit teams they lost to last year. Think they'll be challenging for top 4.

Problem is , it's likely that they're gonna be on 15 points out of 15. Which is a fabulous base for them to kick on from.

Can't lie though, I'm still confident (if we're making this a spurs v arsenal thing)

I'm the same. I think we'll finish ahead of them, but anyone thinking that they aren't better than last season and that 5th won't be more than 69 pts are just wrong. Getting three points today when we played like shit in the first half is massive.

Just seen their fixtures, they don’t have a hard game until October, which is us. All their next games are winnable, maybe Brentford will be a challenge.

Fulham
Aston Villa
United - who are shockingly bad!
Everton
Brentford
Us

whoever did the fixtures this season made it very favourable for arsenal.

So far, they've played a wretched Crystal Palace side, a team who already look like certainties for relegation in Leicester, and a team just up from the Championship and are playing nervously, Bournemouth. You'll have to excuse me for not getting too excited about them just yet any more than I'm getting too excited about us. It's very very early days and we all know it's far too soon to start getting concerned about anyone's prospects just yet.

Not the biggest fan of XG but we had 1.79 today and score once while they had 1.7 and scored 3 times. I guess they played well but I am pretty sure that we will outscore them once Son and Kane are back to their best.

Said it before but these games aren’t the problem for Arsenal, maybe Palace was a hurdle they have overcome but generally they have been able to play without being pressed by Bournemouth or Leicester. It was hard to see where they would drop points.

Once European football comes along and they are playing Sunday / Thursday then that will be the test for them and the small squad they have. Look at how many times last season they went on great runs, then hit a rough patch. They had 2/3 spells of huge runs picking up big points but one loss seemed to rattle them big time.

They will find a place in the final standing after 38 games, not 3. And I'm still firm in believing they will not be in the top 4. When the fixtures get piling up, especially Europa League games required so much of their energy in travelling, we will see the anxiety and fatigue getting to them. Just let them have some taste of sweetness first.

Might be waiting a while for that...

Next 6 fixtures
Bournemouth (A)
Fulham (H)
Aston Villa (H)
Man United (A)
Everton (A)
Brentford (A)

They could easily take maximum points or close to :spitoutdummy:
Most people keep using their easy set of fixtures thing.....but what having those allows them, is the opportunity to bed in the new players AND develop a proper rhythm whilst having those easy fixtures. By the time the hard games come they've honed their playing style....the players are all comfortable with each other.

Just look at our disjointed performances in the 1st 3 games. I'd have taken their "easy" fixtures any day..... its not that they have easy fixtures..... they bought well and playing well and getting the points. They not scraping wins. They dominating teams.

You could paint that another way. I've seen pros say it take's around 5 game weeks to get into the swing of the Premier league for most teams. Maybe playing harder fixtures first, and getting results could be a boon, especially when you take into account injuries. Playing more testing fixtures might also help the team build resilience.
We shall see.
