Whilst having dinner with a few friends yesterday at a Jewish Restaurant (Delicesserie?) they remarked at what a miserable bastard I was yesterday.

I remarked to them that I've been in a bad mood since August, which made them piss themselves laughing. It got me thinking, this is probably the longest mood I've ever been in (I'll be 30 soon).

As soon as there's a ray of hope, something dashes it. Thrash Derby? get trashed in the papers for whoring for a manager. Take a lead? Lose it. Then fall behind. Last minute? Everyone panics and we concede. Player hits form? Player gets injured. Player scores goals, player gets sent off. Get in a respected manager? Immeditely pile the pressure on the DoF.

I've witnessed some depressing seasons e.g. the one under Ossie where we nealry got relegated. The one in the late 80's/early 90s where we set some kind of record for losing home games. Gerry Francis's final season, the Pleat "caretaker" season, etc. But somehow, even though we're still in the cups, this feels like the most soul destroying of them all. Constant speculation about our 2 star players (one apparently wants to leave and the other supposedly a medical mess).

Going to home games this season is nothing like the last 2. There's a nervous air about the place. Even the pubs have a sombre mood, even before we've started.

Going to work, getting sniggered at. It's all too much. The other day, my Croatian girfriend's mate asked me which team I support - when telling her it was Spurs she said to me in a very foreign accent without even the slightest hint of a smile "tough luck".

Anyone else been feeling like utter shit?

Still, you've got to laugh haven't you.

I do in fits & stages. Usually for about 4 days after a game, then I'll forget for a few days, then I'm back to being like this

I too have found my generally chirpy disposition slightly subdued over the last few months, and I can only put it down to a combination of Spurs not doing so well and the shit weather. Every time I look at the league table it hurts, every time we get a chance to move up it, something ends up stopping us...generally bad defending or worse luck. My pre-season chirpings about the possibility of CL football at the lane are now cruelly mocked by my mates.

But I still have that feeling that this season could turn out alright. Bad luck can't last forever and bad defending can be ironed out as the managerial change takes effect, a couple of players in in jan and we coud be away, maybe win a cup, although to hope for more than a top half finish at the moment is more than I can do. As they say, it ain't the shit luck, terrible defending, last minute goals conceded or cruel mocking that kills you...it's the hope.

I'll refer you to the SC motto;

If you got Spurs problems I feel bad for you son.
I got 99 problems and Spurs ain't one of 'em...................

Hope you're not really German. Can't imagine how dour one would be become if in a bad mood over football.

In the words of Blackadder, "She has the worst personality in Germany and, believe me, that's up against some pretty stiff competition" :)

erm...slightly off the subject

Has - I'll be watching in the West End as I'm going to see a mate's band straight after. Assume you'll be doing an Aldgate meet but text me if not and you want to come along

Hmmm

Dear Santa,

All i want for Christmas is for Spurs to win a few games and get their heads above water. It isn't fair Santa, being a Spurs supporter has its ups and downs but this is crazy. My long term health is at risk, i wake up in the morning and the first thing i think about is our next game and current league position. i worry before i go go to bed at night. When i watch a game my heart could pop. I even think i am starting to get depressed, my friends at work all laugh at me and outside of work they taunt me. Why Santa?

Why Santa? Why when we have much better players than the most teams in the premiership do we struggle. Why Santa when we finished 5th last season and nearly played in the champions league do we fester at such lowly heights in the premiership. Why Santa do I even have to entertain the though of relegation.

Santa, why do man city, portsmouth, blackburn and the likes, who would do anything for a support like ours, with the players we have and the money we have got, why do they linger above us? Even Newcastle, who look terrible, manage to beat us. Santa, why do we play such great attacking football and still get beaten. Why do we look like we could skin most teams we play but yet make life hard for ourselves.

Surely we deseve better Santa, us suppoters cram the lane for every match - we are full even on thursday night when our competitors are doing well to get 10,000. We pay top dollar for a ticket Santa.

Santa, cant you please sprinkle some of your lucky fairy dust over the squad this Christmas. Please let some long range shots after 80 minutes hit the post or go wide. Please let crap strikers stop scoring against us when they only touch the ball once in a match. Cant you make Kaboul and Chimbonda stop giving ther ball away, or even make Berbatov run for more than five seconds, or Darren Bent to score a few?

This is all I want for Christmas Santa. We have a tough run of fixtures in December, please let us win most, pleasssssseeeee. I have been a good chap all year after all. Anyway Santa thanks and good bye.

Yours Hopefully

As i put into a post yetserday, i love being a tottenham fan at the moment. There's nothing in the world like it. The highs, the lows, the excitements, the let down, the sheer farce of the whole situation, never fails to bring a smile to my face.

My only regret is giving west ham fans such a hard time last year. I'm getting it back now, in spades. At least we aren't boring, playing boring mediocre 0-0's. It's excitement we wanted and it's excitement we're getting.

I was sooooooooooooooooooo depressed after the Birmingham game - could hardly sleep - it really hurt big time -

am feeling better today - here's hoping it will last :)

of course my moods aren't solely Spurs-related, but they are a major factor in my moods

I haven't been grumpy, tend to think "oh wel.....and get over it" although I'm getting tired of being ripped at work. However, y husband has been much grumpier than normal expecially when we're at the games.......grumpy bastard!!!

The night of the Birmingham game, I was lying in bed thinking about what it would be like if we did not qualify for europe next year or if we actually got relegated:cry: ,and I was in a terrible mood all monday thinking about. Whats even worse is I live in Birmingham so I when i go to work I am stuck with loads of Blues fans saying how they might qualify for europe after beating us.

Away from Tottenham this season, I have been not bothered with football.

Every season I always watch Match of the Day to check out the other games etc
This season though, if I haven't been to the Spurs game to watch them, I watch them on Football First, and not been interested in the others.

Our form hasn't changed my personality, or made me take it on others etc but just has got me down.
