Not only that Bomber, but correct me if I'm wrong Defoe was involved in 3 goals against Pool.

Yep, he won the ball from them for Modric's goal, as well as getting the final assist for it, he scored the second and he had the shot that Reina dropped for Ade's first goal.

How about you realise Ashcroft that its not just that adebayor makes defoe look better but also the other way round. Defoe plays high up the pitch meaning ade can come short and link as he likes to as well as playing up top. Defoe also does the same making it a PARTNERSHIP. Defoe taking up space upfront means ade looks better as the team still has a target when he drops. Today when ade came short to link we looked short of options up top due to VDV not effectively going past ade and getting into goalscoring positions. If lennon had been fit id be having VDV onthe bench for the good of the team even though hes brilliant, for shape and because i think he today meant modric was ineffective and i think modric > VDV at least on current fitness.
We play lovely football with VDV but are more threatening with defoe.

Defoe should play against Arsenal, Mertesacker won't be able to cope with his pace

Ahhhh I not know what team I want against the scum. Even choosing between Gallas and Kaboul is tough. Thinking about Gallas and King and Kaboul right back but his not as good right back :-(

Modric VDV, Bale and Adebayor are a must so it's 2 from Parker Sandro and Defoe. Decisions decisions decisions

Im currently going for

Friedel
Kaboul Gallas King Assou-Ekotto
VDV Parker Modric Bale
Adebayor Defoe

Subs: Cudicini Walker Sandro Huddlestone Lennon Kranjcar Pav

I can't believe I would ever pick a team without Sandro but I think I just did

Defoe stays up beside Ade giving the centre backs something to think about, whereas VDV buggers off and gets in Modric's way leaving Ade with two players to contend with

Walker, Lennon, Townsend and Bale have pace, JD doesn't.

He isn't slow but he isn't fast, Kaboul and Sandro are quick, they are faster than Defoe.

He clearly isnt slow though so he has pace not lightning pace but he has some pace So saying he has pace isnt a myth.he isnt a slouch like corluka crouch Etc and he is quicker than vdv.

He can accelerate over ten/fifteen yards but for me that doesn't equal pace, his default speed is nothing special.

Exactly. That's all he needs. He doesn't play on the wing, he just needs a good acceleration over 10/15 yards, which he still has. You've answered your own doubts.

His goal last week showed this. I know Enrique's fast but I didn't think he'd catch up that quickly. Luckily Defoe managed to turn him brilliantly but I never thought it'd get to that point.

Defoe doesn't have pace, its a myth.

He used to. But then it faded as he got older. He almost never gets beyond defenders anymore, he just haplessly shoots from distance instead.
