Adama Traore

The question is: do you want us to sign Adama Traore? As many as are of that opinion say

While I agree, I think not signing a striker would be a massive mistake.
Totally, I was conveniently ignoring the statement that it's him OR a striker because I don't want it to be true!

I would be gobsmacked if we're not looking for a striker.

That's fine but what happens when either Son or Kane are injured? We have 1 player who consistently provides goals, Teams will know how to set up against that and we won't get away with games like yesterday consistently.
Yeah, completely agree.
We need to sign a striker, no matter what else we do but it's more like I'm trying to convince myself that Traore could be a good fit for us. ?

Son is going to be our backup striker if Kane gets injured.

If someone can give me a viable third-choice striker who will be able to score 10+ goals & happy to sit on the bench for 75% of the season - I'm interested in hearing.

The striker market is so scarce that you will be hard-pressed to find anyone of quality who will be happy to come in and be 3rd choice.

What striker are we realistically going to sign that would be a reliable scorer?

Ings was the best bet and we didn't want to pay the wages.

There are players out there. Leicester have Vardy, Inecacho and Daka.

This club seems utterly allergic to signing strikers. If Kane is injured we are back to Son up top like we were three years ago, its lunacy. Son is the only reliable scorer we have apart from Kane.

Think we should get him.
But then I like my football laced with chaos and drama.

Haha fair play, Yeah it’s clear the benefits traore brings in my opinion, we’d be lucky to have him but in the context of what Spurs need it has to be alongside players whose qualities revolve around their output in the goals column in my opinion

Seems to me like our main targets aren’t available at a price we are willing to pay, so we are looking at alternative plans like signing Traore. If that’s the case, I’d be quite happy to get Vinicius back on loan as at least he’s an option that allows us to hold up the ball when Kane is unavailable.

I certainly wouldn't be against that as a option.

Son is a better centre forward than any striker we can afford at present, if we keep Kane and add adama then our forward options are frightening. Not forgetting Scarlett getting minutes gradually over season like united did with Greenwood. Left wing we have bergwijn/Gil striker Kane/son/Scarlett right wing Moura/adama. They all have ability to move into diff positions also. We are never going to play 442 so no point signing a Vlahovic type unless we sell Kane

Yeah when we didn’t sign Ings that suggested to me that Kane was staying as there simply wasn’t a striker available at a good price.
Even Vlahovic with his potential is still a big risk.
So a winger/forward is a good option, but he wouldn’t be my first choice.

Son as a striker is better than most other players in that position anyway. Especially with how Nuno wants to play with the narrow front 3.

We're not a Jose team anymore who needs a big target man - the team is a lot more fluid now.

Yes, if Kane & Son get injured we're pretty screwed. But so would Liverpool if they lost Mane & Salah for an extended amount of time.

We're a Europa conference league side, it's going to be hard to attract a top striker to play second fiddle.

Forgetting end product, Traore is top notch in attributes required from a winger. He'd be fucking perfect for us rn.

Think it’s tricky as there simply aren’t many good strikers out there plus we have Scarlett, Parrott and Etete coming through.

I think the key to using Son as a striker is to find a midfielder who is able to link play better than we currently have. There is no point going direct with him as our focal point but if we can break the lines and attack with numbers then it could work. Of the players linked, I guess Aouar is probably the best option. Also, Traore is excellent at picking up the ball from deep and driving forward so this could help too. In terms of goalscoring, I'm hopeful that Dele will get back to his old ways, now that he seems to have rediscovered his confidence.
