Sonny needs help up top regardless if Kane’s a gonna. Itk saying it’s defo 1 in up top and 2 if Kane leaves is hard to take in! Why wouldn’t the 1 already be signed? my take is it was always gonna be if Kane stays we won’t get anyone in. Ings was a great bit of business that we passed on. Bonkers. No way we’re getting 4/5 players in. Time is ticking and I love the itk we get but we get it every season. We all know this will end in disaster. Kane will throw his toys big time and levy will sell. He will get a good price. But we will be left without a decent forward. If incomings are irrelevant of outgoings why have we not got the striker we need?

Another radio silence week, all comes down to the final week …

Left it far too late imo, to get rid of the necessary amount of both ins & out.

It's been incredibly strange. It felt like it was full steam ahead with transfers not long ago with lots of talk of 4/5 players in and them not being dependent on outgoings. Tomiyasu for one allegedly being on the brink of happening for what feels like a month now, us reportedly throwing ridiculous money towards the signing of Martinez and now all of a sudden from the outside it looks like something is holding us back from doing anything.

I'm not sure it will be Paratici to massively blame personally as I think a lot of clubs are finding it hard to shift players, not just us and other clubs still have a lot of business to be done but I certainly can't see us getting not just all that we need, as that sounds like one may have been naive in thinking that was likely, but at least getting what some of us thought we might one or two weeks ago. As in, 2 strikers if Kane goes, Tomiyasu and a central midfielder/centre back. And well, at least one outgoing out of CCV, Sissoko, Aurier, Winks or even Sanchez as there was apparently a lot of interest in him. The only way I can really envisage any sort of influx of activity is if Kane definitely goes as there will be outrage it we don't make adequate signings off the back of that but even then, it may leave us with a lot to do but you'd like to think Paratici has things liked up already in the event of that.

I just can't see us not being short somewhere come the end of it all, I'm just not sure if it will be in defence, midfield or attack. Or some/all of those areas...

I actually think all of our remaining business will happen on the last day of the window now.

Using cash strapped clubs desperation to drive prices down. This is especially productive given Paratici is well known for having multiple targets.

It will essentially put the clubs under so much pressure to deal "You asked for £30m. I'll give you £20m. Decide right now or I'll sign X instead"

Selling clubs can't say no. Or they'll be stuck with an asset that they needed to cash in on.

Agree with you, it’s super hard to shift players when pretty much the only people buying are epl and psg, I think we had LM lunged up but chelscum basically made that not happen with the purchase of lukaku as well as it being dependent on Kane. I would’ve liked more but it is what it is, no crying over spilled milk.

To have every issue in a squad addressed in a transfer window is extremely rare but if a team is considered to be a long way from where it feels it should be then it needs to be making significant improvement on the first XI particularly but also the squad overall.

Romero (you'd hope) will improve our CB area, although remember Toby was our best defender so the improvement there may not even be as significant as people think. Gollini gives us a better backup GK certainly but that impact is probably going to be minimal this season.
When you then also remove Bale, Lamela and Vinicius from the squad, all who contributed last season. Is Bryan Gil really even going to fil the void of those 3 let alone improve us on last season?

I've said already I don't see us being able to do a great deal more in the next 12 days and that is disappointing. Yes I get its difficult times and not being able shift much deadwood has made it even harder. But we've talked about a rebuild for a number of years now and at this rate we'll still be talking about it in another 5 yrs.

On first showing of our new cb I’m very worried. Keeper looks ok but like the presenters were saying, why is he punting it to our 18 year olds. Gill looks ok. But playing in front of Doherty he’s a waste. Not sure I would say at this point our starting 11 is any better than before the window opened. Back up keeper. A young winger who won’t get much time and a cb that looks full of stupid rash mistakes.

I'm not too worried and I think he will look much better with better defenders alongside him and Skipp and Hojbjerg in front of him, but I now totally understand why he got 29(!) yellow cards in the last two seasons.

Bit of a hot head player. Obviously give him time and needs to settle. Just hope we can complement him with a quality calm guy next to him. ( we won’t tho) imagine him and Dier or scatty Sanchez? Jesus. He’s another n’dombele for me. There is a reason we stole a March on a great player. No one else would pay that much. Hopefully I’m wrong. ?

Yeah, he definitely needs a calm and solid defender alongside him. Someone like De Vrij (Inter) would be a great partner for him.

More worries that we had to play ccv next to him. Where is our depth? Rodon etc. We need another CB big time.

Transfer windows tend to swing from one extreme to another.

You can start in a bad place and end in a good place. You can start with optimism but end full of negativity.

We started this window with not a lot of optimism. After we brought in Romero, the optimism seemed to be very high and we have been anticipating the next one.

Now that hasn't happened yet, we are starting to get a little twitchy and concerned.

In previous windows (except 2018) whenever we've been in this situation at this point, things have tended to pick up in the last week and a lot of movement happened (2012, 2013, 2017, 2019).

Bizarrely, if we were all positive at this stage, I'd actually be worried because it always seems when that's the case, we have a poor end to the window.

I remember 2018 we had positive messages all the way up until the last couple of days that we would definitely bring in 2 or 3.

Therefore when we are seemingly far from deals at this stage, I no longer get as concerned.

Having said that we need to see some stronger links by at least early next week otherwise we'll be facing a mad scramble to get done what we need to. And that's a lot I feel.

So, 11 days to go can’t really see 4/5 in and 5/6 out either with the Kane saga hanging over us. A window that started with so much optimism that super DOF Fab was going to be our saviour is whimpering out like a deflating balloon. I hope I am wrong but logistically with all today’s COVID restrictions it is going to be extremely difficult to do what is needed. It is not a buyers market as many have suggested as the good players are priced at a premium and the lesser players can’t be shifted. The rebuild will take 3/4 windows at least.

100%, people who were expecting 3/4 (5) signings and 3/4 out are going to VERY disappointed. i mean for some reason, we still haven't concluded tomiyasu, and we was told it'd be done after the olympics, and that's been finished a week now. Genuinely think, and its just my PERSONAL opinion before i get dug out, everything we are doing is completely reliant on the kane money, even though we've heard differently, didnt we have news from Val? taht this week would be big? and there has been squat! i mean, not knocking his info, maybe he thought kane would be gone by now, and we'd start spending?

My guess is 2 signings maximum (CM and CB) and Kane stays.

Paratici definitely needs to get a move on!

Personally, I think that the emergence of Tanganga during pre-season, when there were opportunities to send him out on loan, has put paid to Tomiyasu, or at least put it on hold. You might be able to swallow a squad with three senior right backs, but not being able to get Aurier off of the books and having Doherty there as well...it's nuts to sign another one and end up with four. Getting one of them out is key for this one, for me. Any of them. It looks like we're going to be keeping and starting Tanganga, so until someone else is shipped out I can't imagine in good conscience we can sign Tomiyasu.
