I thought obligation meant they had to and option meant they could decide?

Anyway us walking away feels like posturing. The chairmans quotes are also posturing.

If he doesn't sign a deal can Fiorentina really miss out on that sort of money? Doubt it

Which is entirely understandable if he hopes to take advantage of the fallout from the Mbappe and Haaland striker sweepstakes next summer like a lot of these clubs are. Next summer though Vlahovic will basically be near the end of his contract. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to hold him and devalue him that much unless they are hoping to sneak into CL slots.

I suppose if Vlahovic has an even bigger season next year and scores 30 goals or something for Fiorentina he could be worth almost as much as he is now as he will be seen as a proven asset of even higher quality.

It's not that unusual to see players with only one year left go for big fees if there's a buyer that really wants them.

He'd have to have one hell of a season to go for more than what is being reported as offered with a year left. It's a risky one, if he struggles then they'd only get a fraction of what has been offered this summer. No guarantees he can replicate that form in a mid to lower table Fiorentina side.

Let's find some players who have meaningful release clauses in their contracts. Seems to be the easiest way at this rate.

Regardless of whether we wait until before or after we sell Kane, clubs aren't silly and know we're in for a windfall whether the Kane deal has been announced or not.

Isak is the obvious one, but he recently signed a new deal and the release clause was apparently increased to about 90m euros. Also, by all accounts he's happy at Sociedad so it may not be as simple as triggering the clause.

It was obvious the City links were all from Italy, so it was the selling club leaking to drive the price up.

If City were really in for him, UK journos would be reporting it.
