Great move for Foyth, not so great for Valencia Yid.
I don’t think it’s an either out and while this may not have been your your intent, it’s not the nicest implication to make that posters who don’t rate Foyth therefore don’t appreciate skilful graceful footballers.
For instance, King and Vertonghen were both hugely skilful, in my opinion more so, but for arguments let’s say on a level. However, they were both built like trucks by the time they’d reached Foyth’s age and thus far better able to use that skill under physical pressure from opponents. Ginola, Waddle, Hoddle, Dembele, Berbatov, Bale, all wonderfully gifted footballers who were far better able to make use of their ability because of their physical gifts. Yes, there’sa litany of examples of smaller/ less physically imposing players who reached the top on pure talent, including arguably the best player of all time, but not at centre back and generally the absolutely exceptionally talented. Modric, Zola, Juninho, Silva, all exceptional in this league despite being slight and unimposing, but none were centre backs and all were pretty much as good as you can be in terms of pure talent and brains.
I just don’t think there’s an example of a centre back who reached the top in this league in recent times who displays the same combination of pluses and minuses as Foyth.
Why? There is an option to buy him involved. Nothing suggests we weren’t close to agreeing the saleGreat move for Foyth, not so great for Valencia Yid.

Im sure they will. Not sure though if Foyth himself has already agreed to stay beyond the loan or not.
Given that his info comes from the club, I imagine there’s an element of him hearing what Spurs wanted to happen/ was pushing for.Great move for Foyth, not so great for Valencia Yid.

Nice response, thank you. I just don’t necessarily see him as a central defender. Maybe we get stuck in round pegs, round holes. I don’t want to open myself up to a guffawing pack, but I see similarities between him and a maestro of the 60s/70s.I don’t think it’s an either or and while this may not have been your your intent, it’s not the nicest implication to make that posters who don’t rate Foyth therefore don’t appreciate skilful graceful footballers.

Having not been even close to being born at that point, I will certainly respect your appreciation on that topic, but I think if it Foyth can make a good career at a regular European competitor in Spain then he’ll have done well.Nice response, thank you. Agree with this analysis. Pretty sure it was AllyGold who said he should have transitioned into the midfield, as Dier transitioned back.I don’t think it’s an either or and while this may not have been your your intent, it’s not the nicest implication to make that posters who don’t rate Foyth therefore don’t appreciate skilful graceful footballers.

Just following the Chelsea modelI was really confused when I saw Foyth signed a new contract but then reading this, it makes perfect sense for him and us.
Also, giving your employee a pay rise and then getting someone else to pay for it... Levy is a genuis.
This could be Toby's last season with us, so it would be amazing if Juan came back after having a blinder of a season in Spain
Can’t imagine it’ll be a hard choice for him. 3 years of not getting a chance here, one year of having a good season there, horrible British weather v Valencian sunshine where he’ll be a native speaker, league more suited to his make up as a footballer. Can’t see that he’d want to return to a place where he’s not made it if he has indeed succeeded over there.
Given that his info comes from the club, I imagine there’s an element of him hearing what Spurs wanted to happen/ was pushing for.
I think Toby will probably be sold next summer. The new contract just means we'll get a fee and he will not leave on a free like Jan.Toby signed a big 3.5 year contract last December. So would be very surprised if he would not see that out.

On the previous page of this thread ?Has it been definitively confirmed that there is an option to buy?
Extension appears to be purely to protect his value:

The loan agreement has a purchase option at the end of the season.
