Where did he say that, it wasn't in the bit posted over from TFC earlier as far as I could see, just the Go West bit?

(all transfers are possible until definite)
He said something like it's one of the names he has been told is possible a few days ago but didn't want to say anything as he doesn't like speaking about possible targets

Edit exact quote via @daveduvet a couple pages back

He was mentioned to me a few days ago but i got the impression that it was”likely/possible” so i held back as i prefer definite rather than could be’s....its defo not definite especially in this window

He’s also mentioning now that he’s had the name for a few days but it’s not a definitive, just a likely/could be which he’s generally not as comfortable sharing.

I was trying to resist quoting him verbatim due to the recent story in a teacup around his posts but hey ho.

VY:

Sounds to me like King is being lined up dependant on what happens with our outgoings and thursday and is likely seen to be the last of our options if we can't shift the non-HG.

Not my first choice but as others have said, if Skriniar comes in and we end up with King as back up then I am ok with it. Can play wide or up top. Just a shame we didn't have him for tomorrows game to give Kane some sort of rest.

Seems different to what Jose was looking for judging by his other targets but must be one he has approved with Levy?

Having read through the posts and seen so many people say better than nothing, I totally disagree King is not even good enough for our bench. You can say he is just a back up but if Kane gets injured and is out for a while can any of you honestly see goals or leading the line coming from King.
Would rather have GB playing as a striker than King. We have been waiting a few years now for another striker but if this is the best our scouting team can come up with then no thanks not good enough.

underwhelming
In isolation, perhaps, but in a bigger picture where we’ve made improvements to right back, left back, central midfield, attacking midfield/the wings and our goalkeeper options, and may yet also improve at centre back, i couldn’t disagree more.

A goal every 3.35 matches for a poor side where his minutes have been split between the flank and the middle, or a goal/assist every 2.5 matches, is fine for a player who will probably not be part of our first to fourth choice potential starting front 3.

Waiting 1 year.
Point is, GB, or Son, are better down the middle than pretty much every forwards available for under £40/50m.

Not massively exciting, but I’m not sure which of the strikers we’ve been linked to recently are?

He’s more versatile than the likes of Milik and Weghorst, home grown, and is a proven prem striker.

The only thing I don’t understand is why it’s taken us so long to move for him.

I imagine it was a calculated risk based on the fact that we felt we’d manage through this run of fixtures equally well with or without him (and but for Peter Bankes and Mike Dean, this would have been the case entirely at least so far as you’d hope we’ll beat Maccabi but you never know), so that we could at least try to push for someone better if possible and return to him off all else fails.

Risky tactic but the fact that he’s not gone elsewhere probably vindicates it (on this occasion).

That’s a pretty optimistic take, considering we’ve dropped points in two out of three prem games.

Pretty sure Mourinho would have liked to have had King (or anyone for that matter) available for those fixtures.

Spurs fans - JUST SIGN A FUCKING STRIKER

Striker linked...

Spurs fans - NO, NOT THAT STRIKER!

It's basically like when my 3 year old asks for a biscuit.

She's particularly not keen on the caramelised biscotti type ones, which we'll simply liken to Sorloth

But hes nothing like the player that Jose wants. Anybody who watched the doc knows that.

Would be an odd signing imo.

Equally, there's a parallel universe where we bought King early on for £20m and then some other team buys someone perceivably better nearer the end of the window for that money and SC kick off about it.

I don’t dispute that, but if he was told ‘have King in time for those matches’ or ‘we can get you King on deadline day but first we’d like to push for Vinícius/Weghorst/Sorloth as they fit your ideal striker type better’ then I suspect he’d have gone with the latter. Additionally, thought I know press conferences can be a bit of an act, he did say in today’s that he’s confident of getting a striker but also that even if we don’t, he’s happy that we’ve gone all out to get one and is happy with how we’ve operated regardless of the outcome. Paraphrasing of course.

I accept that this is probably a touch dishonest on his part, maybe with the intention of finding another way of saying to Levy ‘get me my fucking striker you bald gimp’, but equally I don’t think he says that if we’ve been going about our business any other way than that to which he has subscribed from the off set.

Piatek, Milik, Carlos Vinicius aren't the players Jose described at All or Nothing too, yet at some points they were close or was Mou first target. And in last 9 months our tactics changed.

This joke has been reused so many times..

FWIW King is better than nobody, and if he facilitates a better CB then fine, but we've been linked with so many different players of varying profile and quality there's definitely a sense that the scattergun is out in force again.
