I do wonder whether Levy/ENIC can ever redeem themselves in the eyes of some. Genuinely interested to hear the thoughts of @[email protected] , @piedpiper , @jurgen etc on the matter. They'll always be criticism
Spot onWe're the thick end of £150m into net spend since the stadium was finished now. I am not surprised by that in itself - I've always believed that the extra money we now generate would be spent on the team - but I am surprised that we seem to have quite a lot of money available right now, given the circumstances.

Yep and I mean its been a transfer window way above expectations so far but I completely agree with this, whether it was due to the stadium build or Poch turning down players or whatever, we let a 2nd in the league quality squad get so stale and didn't adequately replace a number of key player never mind actually build on or improve the squad so we are well well overdue these signings but this window is slowly making up for it but Bale and Regulion alone won't get us to where we want to be just yet, we still need the 3 signings you've mentioned as well, I think we will get the ST and possibly CB but not sure about the creative MF which is extremely key but Dragon ITK is promising on that front so let see.Right...... a Quality CF, a leading CB and a combative/creative MF and we can't criticise.
Agreed. The problem is, in order to fit these, we need to have a pretty decent sized clear out. Foyth, Serge, Sissoko, Lamela, Lucas will all have to be sold and there is no indication any of them will be. There's a huge # crunch now. We cant be haggling over a few mill now. If any decent bid comes in, we've got to accept.Right...... a Quality CF, a leading CB and a combative/creative MF and we can't criticise.
That's true. However it would be nice if the club started to think about selling players AFTER they've brought in reinforcements. It's held us back for years.Agreed. Of those, I'd only look to offload Foyth and one of Lamela and Lucas. We risk a lack of depth otherwise imo.Agreed. I'm absolutely delighted Richie! If this is the blueprint for how ENIC/Levy intend to operate in future windows, you won't hear me complaining. It's all I (and I'm sure every other critic of our owners) have consistently called for: effective, sustained and decisive investment in the squad. Isn't that what every genuine supporter wants? And why is it considered so insidious amongst a certain group of posters on this forum to ever scrutinise or even question a transfer policy that had left us with such significant holes in the squad? I mean, surely our first loyalty is to the football team, not to the company that owns our registration? But huge credit to Levy and the transfer committee mate! No fucking about. No brinkmanship. No "low balling". No "game of poker". No waiting till the end of the window in an attempt to extract the maximum value. No mythical "Levytime". No moving the goalposts. No waiting until Deadline Day for cheap opportunist grabs. No being spun the patronising and intelligence-insulting propaganda that Levy's gamesmanship, drawn-out negotiating tactics, and end-of-window often scattergun approach to buying footballers is utterly unavoidable and necessary because "we're not a rich club". It's easily the best transfer window I can ever remember, and we've still 3 weeks to go!! It's beautiful to see us operate like a truly big club; like a record revenue generating club, one of the wealthiest in the league. Can we please have more of this Mr. Levy? And more importantly mate, if we can operate in this effective and decisive way NOW, in this Covid period; at a time when we're at our most vulnerable financially, then there's really no excuses for failing to similarly address future transfer windows should we need to do so. I think Levy has played a blinder mate! He's moved decisively to address the holes in the squad, and whilst that in no way absolves him of any culpability for the negligence that facilitated that decline in the first place, he deserves huge credit. This is genuinely the most optimistic I've felt about a transfer window for a longtime. A truly coherent approach to buying players. What a brilliant day Richie! I'm so excited about the season! How are you feeling about it all mate?I do wonder whether Levy/ENIC can ever redeem themselves in the eyes of some. If he can’t work it out then we have serious problems
How does that work then?

Relieved, tbh, as this is what I always thought would happen post stadium build and no-one likes to end up with egg on their face! ?I'm absolutely delighted Richie! I'm torn on Rose. He's been a great servant overall and his willingness to share his troubles transcends football, but whinging to the press about his salary while being among the highest paid players in the world in his position was a really poor show.Only downside to the window is the treatment of Danny rose who deserves better than to be striped of his squad number and possibly selling gazziniga who seems a great number two to me.
Apart from that as I said Enic have properly delivered. You cant argue that right now we sit in the best football stadium in europe, with one of the best training grounds, being managed by the most successful manager they could get with a front three of son, kane and Bale. The squad now is befitting of the facilities.
If we don't get a trophy this season I certainly can't blame enic.
