Today was clear that without Lo Celso and Ndombele we have very little in central midfield. We need Ndombele when Lo Celso is out and vice versa. If we can get them both playing together as well (either in place of Moura or Alli who are both inconsistent) we could start playing again. It's very similar to missing Eriksen albeit a different area of the pitch but completely impacts the way we play without either of them. At least we have 2 players who could offer something in midfield but today was unfortunate that Lo Celso is injured and Ndombele not match fit enough. Hojbjerg and Winks are too similar in where they like to play, we need someone who can make those runs forward and progressive passes. We saw little glimpses of Ndombele looking for forward balls but we were very ragged by that point.
any idea when GLC will be back? end of the month?I think it’s got to be a midfield triangle of
NDombele
PEH GLC
Dele offered so little today. Having TN further forward in Dele’s place limits us a bit to the risk of TN not defending well.
I must admit I was reasonably happy with Tanguy when he came on - For a guy who has had very limited match sharpness, been the subject of some criticism about his attitude and overall match fitness, he actually came on and actually wanted to make an impact, I felt. What I will say though, and it's echoed a lot from posters here is, the central midfield is never going to be the ideal place for him, as I can never see him working hard enough in that area of the field. Jose needs to eventually tell Dele that it's now or never, or at least give him something to fight for and get Tanguy firing in that position. Half of our squad's problems stem from complacency and are more & more often just going through the motions in games. They need competition to make them hungry again.
a spell of misplaced passes after a bright start... but the main thing is with those incomplete passes he was trying to go forward and break lines, getting tanguy some match fitness and sharpness should be a real priority in the games we have coming up

Dele offered so little today. Having TN further forward in Dele’s place limits us a bit to the risk of TN not defending well. GLC’s a grafter but has the talent to break lines. PEH I think will prove to be a good player - wasn’t great today admittedly but you see what he can offer. He was asked to press very high and also get back/ shield, he understandably tired in the second half.
You may be right, however, I feel it's the only possible position that is suitable for him right now, though that's not to say that he can't play a more central role in the future, though like you pointed out, PEH isn't a midfield destroyer, so that might create an issue for now? It’s tough to find an ideal position for Ndombele and he reminds me of Modric to an extent in that it took a season or 2 to find out his best position. I do however think Tanguy can play in a midfield 2 BUT not at Spurs. The reason for this is for Lyon he played alongside the more defensive Aouar, a bit like how Hojbjerg played with the more defensive Romeu. We have a habit of signing good players but either we don’t play a system that suits them and/or have the same type of player that they need to play with to flourish.

It's the same performance every time with Ndom. He comes on, makes a turn and incisive pass which comes to nothing because the player on the end miscontrols. But you think YES, THIS IS THE TIME. He does it again YES, HE'S ON IT! But then... not much and then he starts to amble, and we don't turn the game around. He hasn't affected a game for a year. I want to believe, I really do. But I'm not into religion and I don't do blind faith.
Maybe. But he has to break the cycle, and he isn't.Don't you think that could largely be down to the fact he hasn't had a run to find any sort of consistency?
He is an average player ...I watched him even at lyon and didn't think he is top class player .... Don't expect him turn out like KDB or Havertz even though he is earning more or less same than these players and we spent similar amount of transfer fees on him ...
