Very happy to hear squad balance is the key this window. Be great to have options in all areas and be able to push on several fronts. Just hope we manage to keep hold of most of the squad.

Squad Ballance was always the objective this window. That in turn, has to be Ballanced with the home grown quota. With a limited budget this entails certain non key squad members moving on to make room, and the likes of Hart coming in to fill gaps.

Add into this Jose's wish to get younger players out on loan to gain experience and playing time, and also the financial constraints coming from Covid. This is without question as difficult as it gets in a transfer window.

The silver lining is Jose offering up a list of obtainable targets, and the fact he is listening to the clubs scouts and advisors as far as alternatives go. If everything pans out there is a still a lot of movement to take place. There will be no room for Jose to hide, the way things are planning out. Can't remember a time when DL was so determined to get a manager what he asks for, but then the players being requested are far more in tune with the chairman's preferred price range.

Expect more in in the next week or so as well as possible outs. No huge money superstar signings but players giving us options and balance to add to the superstars already here.

Great news, it’s all I’ve been asking for for 2/3 years. Sort the problem positions out, make the squad stronger, sell the bad players. Maybe it takes an experienced manager to do it with full confidence in their ability to spot a player or trust others at the club, I don’t know. But I do know in the past we have seemed to make the transfer market harder for ourselves than we need to.

I like the Jose listens to his scouts but still has the power of veto when he disagrees (Eze).

A balanced squad is music to my ears. I honestly can't remember the last time we had that. If we get a RB or two and a striker then I think there's enough to get back in the CL and win stuff there. Anything on top would be a bonus.

really good to hear that mourinho and levy are on the same page, when a chairman has one vision and the manager another it can often not end well, excited to hear this and for the season in general, thanks for the information as always mate?

I love Poch and I'll never love José's tactics, but it sounds like having a manager that has managed large clubs may be more critical than Poch's passion.

Poch's approach of working with a small squad and refusing loans for youth players was too idealistic for a club across all competitions.

I'm all for sensible transfers and building a squad that can compete.

I cannot believe all this optimism when we've signed someone from Southampton and Joe bloody Hart! Maybe step back and see the bigger picture. This is a serious reduction in ambition for the club. Balance is necessary but getting all giddy when we've made a couple of average signings is nuts. I wanna see what some of you write IF we get our second choice striker.

It's still a much better window than 2 years ago already ?

But i think the optimism has more to do with the encouraging ITK that we're all (mostly) discussing. Hearing that we're balancing the squad and Jose is working well with our recruitment team is very good news IMO.

I'd like to see what you write if Jose's plan pays off by the end of next season.

You mean that place where some of the best footballers the league has seen were signed from? :meh:

The optimism is, like successful clubs do, tackling the areas of need and being pragmatic. Early(ish), efficient signings.

I know my message isn’t directly relating to ITK, but I just wanted to say that this post is very stupid.

Both decent deals, neither terrifically difficult to do. Positive start but there is still plenty of work to balance this squad properly and we'll have to be creative to do it.

Fair play, probably the biggest overreaction of the window so far

A bit of sanity at last. But probably suits all those who continually whined about how we were overachieving as we now just target second and third string players

I find it laughable that aiming for a balanced squad is not par for a Premier league club with football aspirations.

I think you just need to be a little more realistic.

We cannot afford to buy a superstar in every position. It's not fiscally possible for us. We do have some incredible players at the club already and a few with bags of potential so we need to flesh the squad out with dependable, reliable, affordable players.

Gave you an optimistic rating because I’m a completist by nature and hate not seeing the full rating display when it’s so close to being achieved.

Can some of you fuckers give him an ‘info’ and ‘friendly’ rating please?
