I agree as we could always buy "subject to medical", that way would not lose out where he is concerned if he turns out to be a dud.

Which indicates to me that we're waiting for the price to drop, much as we did with Hojbjerg. There's no way they can keep him IMO and I'd even consider loaning them Parrott if it greased the wheels a bit.

Edit; Except Parrott's already been loaned to Millwall!!

Not sure what due dilligence we can be doing on Wilson's medical history without having him in for a medical, in which case we have to strike a deal with Bournemouth. Sounds a bit like we're stalling while the pressure ramps up on them due to wages.

Agree, maybe he was doing part medical/discussion at the training centre last week?

I thought we’d already loaned Parrott to Millwall?

Would be nice to get Wilson or similar tied up early though. We've got a hideous run of games to start off with.
A hideous run that may include three games against the powerhouses of Inter Turku, Bodø/Glimt and Zeljeznicar.

It's a lot of games yes but let's see how bad it is when the actual PL fixtures are released, which is this week and on Friday at latest. All I hope is that we don't play a top side in the first three games.

All opportunities for players to pick up knocks though.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson had an ‘agreement‘ In principle to leave on decent terms If things went badly at Bournemouth when he signed his new deal. The club would not make it difficult for him.

Also of course Spurs being clever, the deal will be structured in a way to protect our investment. Either through heavy insurances or longer term payments. If neither of these were to be available then a cheaper overall payment.

Think it’s certainly a good and sensible sort of deal. Back up!

I'd imagine us getting our hands on Wilson's medical records or even arranging a third party private examination is a much simpler and quicker process than agreeing a transfer with Daniel Levy to be honest!

I think they'll need money up front with the state their finances are in. They've sold Ake but that doesn't even put a dent in it. They need high wage earners off the books quickly and all of that will have Levy dribbling like a Labrador near a biscuit tin. Herc's ITK indicates we're on it though.

Squad Ballance was always the objective this window. That in turn, has to be Ballanced with the home grown quota. With a limited budget this entails certain non key squad members moving on to make room, and the likes of Hart coming in to fill gaps.

Add into this Jose's wish to get younger players out on loan to gain experience and playing time, and also the financial constraints coming from Covid. This is without question as difficult as it gets in a transfer window.

The silver lining is Jose offering up a list of obtainable targets, and the fact he is listening to the clubs scouts and advisors as far as alternatives go. If everything pans out there is a still a lot of movement to take place. There will be no room for Jose to hide, the way things are planning out. Can't remember a time when DL was so determined to get a manager what he asks for, but then the players being requested are far more in tune with the chairman's preferred price range.

Expect more in in the next week or so as well as possible outs. No huge money superstar signings but players giving us options and balance to add to the superstars already here.
Extremely positive update, thanks so much Trix you hero!

As we know many things can change but given the astute business we've done early already as you say the signs are that Jose is working well with DL and offering obtainable pragmatic targets so in that sense is probably quite easy to work with which bodes well for us doing some more movements in a very difficult window.

I'm probably more excited about us getting squad balance than a superstar like a Dybala etc last window tbh, its great that this is the focus of the window due to Covid or otherwise. Plugging the gaps at DM, RB, ST etc with solid players will be far more useful than just signing a Dybala. The key now is can we get at least a ST in before the season starts otherwise Kane could burnout early with all the early fixture pile-ups, the other positions can wait until later in the window if needed.

I cannot believe all this optimism when we've signed someone from Southampton and Joe bloody Hart! Maybe step back and see the bigger picture. This is a serious reduction in ambition for the club. Balance is necessary but getting all giddy when we've made a couple of average signings is nuts. I wanna see what some of you write IF we get our second choice striker.
Yeah, because signing a player from Southampton to fill a much needed hole in the team never worked out for anyone?!?

By keeping the entire core of our squad and all of our key players? We're hardly starting from scratch here.

Seems more like he's fixing the gigantic hole in the roof and replacing the broken windows which the landlord had been saying he'd fix for the past 2 years but never got round to.

Oh, and he's using building materials with excellent leadership qualities. (That's how metaphors work, right?)
Ok...

Absolutely agree, we have some great players already. If we get some pragmatic players to set a solid foundation it frees up those to win matches. Great to hear Jose and Levy are on the same page with transfers - didnt get that impression with poch over the past few seasons.

OK we'll try to open this and see how we get on. Our fixture list is nothing to do with ITK.

There. There's a hint for you. Now get away and shave a clear bit between your eyebrows.
