Everton are flying at the moment and if we crash out against Ajax I think we’ll be pretty vulnerable. Especially given how we’ve looked so toothless up front (vs Brighton, West Ham and Ajax). Hopefully we smash Bournemouth and don’t have to worry!

Everton are flying?

They've had a few decent results, but flying would suggest they're on a run of results & looking impressive.

Their last last dozen games have seen them go..

L, L, L (Wolves, City, Watford)

W, D, L (Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle)

W, W, W (Chelsea, West Ham, Arseanal)

L, W, D (Fulham, United, Palace).

They're capable of results but are crazily inconsistent.

However, I understand your concerns, I echo them, hope we put CL qualification to bed tomorrow afternoon & can stop worrying so much about the last game of the (domestic) season.

The only viable options open to us are to qualify for the CL and trigger a spend-up this summer to refresh the squad, AND go to the CL final this year. But if I had to choose, I'd opt for the former. Refreshing the squad is more important (just edges it) for me, and would be more usefully tangible long-term, than being humiliated by Messi on the biggest stage in world football.

However, both are still achievable, so both is what we go for.

What if it is? Well then we go again next season, we will still have 38 games in the league, 2 domestic cups and European football. It is what it is, once a ships been sunk you can't bring it back so stop wasting your mental energy on doomsday scenarios and take each day as it comes. We're in the semi final of the champions league and our online fanbase has been pathetic the past week.

This shit Arsenal side winning a trophy would be the most unthinkable.
But looks like they will win it this time. It will be painful, when they win & get to CL and we don't win any or even get to CL.

I'm 40, and from the age of 12 to 27 Spurs were shite. I'm also a third generation Scunny Utd fan. So I'm very familiar with the dirge and disappointment of football supporting. And yet I've somehow managed to stay chipper about things.

If you're 52 then you've seen more times of spurs being good, great even, than I have.

Maybe that's the problem.:shifty:

This weekend is massive. Fourth place still isn't guaranteed a CL place for next season.

If we or Liverpool were to win it, then the team in fourth will miss out - unless it's us that finishes fourth.

Knowing our luck, we will win the CL, finish fourth and then somehow exclude ourselves.

it effectively is for us becasue the only way 4th place wouldnt count is if we win the cl and whoever wins europa league both finish outside the top 4, but then we would qualify from winning so it wouldnt matter.

Haven't we qualified the last 4-5 years running? I'm pretty sure we've put the top 4 hoodoo to bed.

The doomsday scenario:

-We lose the next three, or...
-We draw the next two and lose the last one, or...
-Something else unfathomable happens, i.e., some combination of us both flaming out of the Champions League AND somehow, someway missing out on top 4.

Or how about this scenario: Ars*al and Man U finish above us (so not only CL for the red vermin but "St. Totteringham's Day" to boot) and then Chelsea win the Europa League...or hell, the scum finish in 5th with us 6th and they win the effing EL Cup! So yeah, basically five of the top 6 are all smiles whilst we are sat there, unable to speak, think, react, breathe, blink...

Let's face it-- after Chels**** won the Champions League Final by beating Bayern Munich in extra time in a final played in Munich-- and this after beating Pep's Barcelona; you know, the one with Xavi, Iniesta and Messi (who missed a penalty kick), and in said final the blue vermin being down a goal until the very end and yet somehow, someway pulling out the win in extra time...

...and Lasagnegate...and Martin Fulop...and Chris Foy @ Stoke...

I mean seriously-- as far as snatching soul crushing end-of-seasons from the jaws of pure joy let's face it: we have priors...

So yeah- what if this season is yet another in the pantheon of misery? What would you do? Would you be able to chalk it up to an incredibly unlucky and incredibly stupid, wasteful campaign, one from which we'll surely return stronger than ever, or would you go all Sylvia Plath?

Me, I'm already clearing out the garage to make sure the car actually fits and, simultaneously getting my affairs in order. The thought of Toby and Eriksen fucking off to "better" clubs whilst simultaneously Guendouzi leads the attack at the Parc des Princes whilst we get ready to fly out to Albania for our first group stage match fills me with the kind of dread I'm not sure my 51-year-old ticker can withstand. Losing to an Ajax team that I know we would fucking CRUSH were we anywhere near full strength would do my head in- yes- but flaming out of a Top-4 finish- one that's practically been gift wrapped for us- now that I don't think I could handle.

I wonder if there's a book that would take $ on a Tottenham-double-meltdown-misery parlay? That way I'll at least be able to leave something to my kids...

Clucking bell, you're cheery

Chelsea will beat them. Hazard will make sure. Arsenal don’t have a player anywhere near his level
