Think the idea of giving Poch the best pre-season possible went out of the window directly the FA insisted that Kane, Pritchard and Carroll went to the E u21's, which with the u21 friendly before ensures they have insufficient rest between the end of the season and their u21 matches (regardless of Spurs week in the far east) and insufficient time afterwards....and the FA bringing the season forward by a week is just the icing on the cake

Sadly true. But I'm not sure that excuses having these additional games. If anything it's another reason not to have them.

Ah well.

Spurs up against Bale, probably several thousand Spurs fans there, a few renditions of 'He was born to play for Spurs'... I believe this is the first step on his return to Spurs...

i'd rather our fans supported the players wearing spurs shirts rather than getting all gooey-eyed over a player who effectively went on strike to get a move away from the club.

Well, I'm sure that was more agent-driven but let's not get onto that.

Anyways, he also happened to play here for 7 years, contributing to our most successful period league-wise + Europe-wise for a long time, and single-handedly dragged us through a season, as well as putting on one of the best individual performances by a Spurs player- Actually, Twice. One of those being one of the most memorable Spurs matches.

I wouldn't be happy if they sung Modric songs though.

Good practice, given we will be playing a lot of Thursday-Sunday once again.

Glad we are raising our profile like this, playing against some big teams, will be exciting to see. To Dare is To Do

Im going always wanted to go to the Allianz arena so this has given me the perfect excuse :). Was surprisingly easy to convince my other half as well.

I wonder if the U21s & Copa America are part of the reason we are having late friendlies, so the players away on Int duty get some games under their belts.

its possible - but if the u21's get to the finals (and given that its a very strong strike force with Kane, Ings and Berahino we just might) that takes them to 30 June, so if they need a 3 week break that takes then to 21 July...and then they need a few weeks in pre-season to get fit.

My money is really on them not being 100% fit at the start of PL season on 8 August

I imagine they won't be as up to speed as the rest of the squad, but I think it will help.

Kinda odd they didn't put Honda on there given he's probably got more worldwide recognition. AC Milan are an absolute mess though, need to sort themselves out properly.
Probably because Audi wouldn't let them :woot:

I did wonder as well if Spurs did a deal to give Kane/Pritchard/Carroll 10 days rest from 1 June so they join up with u21 squad missing the friendly on June 11th but a week before the tournament. And in turn the 3 weeks after the tournament might be slimmed down to 2 weeks, which makes a 3 week pre-season leading to the Audi Cup and 4 weeks to the start of Pl which might be just about enough
