So we'll probably only have to play RM then? Unless we perform like we did against the boring rascists and morph into being "heroes just for one day". Presume the game goes to penalties if there is no winner after normal time? That's after it finishes 5-5 lol.

we play bayern/milan the following day depending on who wins/loses.

Below is a excerpt from AC Milan website on players involved in Audi cup

The Audi Cup will again be a showcase tournament of the soccer stars. For instance, Luka Modrić and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid will be pitted against their former club, Tottenham Hotspur, with Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane. FC Bayern will be competing with Mario Götze and Arjen Robben, among others, against the ‘Rossoneri’ with Stephan El Shaarawy and Jérémy Ménez from AC Milan.

How the mighty have fallen.Once upon time - used to have some great players - Kaka, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Zlatan...Now they are 10th in league & using the names of Menez (??) & a injured El Shaarawy to sell tickets

I think this awesome. Great for the fans, good for the club, and let's be realistic he's not going to play the starting XI for our first game of the season in both matches. There'll be great opportunities for some of the kids to play against some really good players.

This is also surely a massive compliment to the club to be invited to take part.

If that's how we treat it then absolutely fine. But I'm not sure if anyone who is due to play in the first game of the season should be playing in either of the games in this tournament.

If we do play those players in those games, then we lose the right a bit to whinge about there being too many games in the Europa League further down the road.

You can bet to get into this and get the fee, there will have been something in the contract about playing a strong team.

Christ dont you lot moan!

Great news to be playing in the Audi cup.........we have a big enough squad - we could have a complete team running around 'a bit' with a transfer/forecourt prices on their backs.

EDIT - TV?

It doesn't matter about the size of our squad, there is no way Poch and his staff can prepare as thoroughly for the opening PL game as our opponents. What about if we have Citeh or United away first up? We're going up there with one hand tied behind our back.

Exactly...Always whining & whinging.

We played 4 games in 12 days last season. This time, thanks to 5th spot - no EL playoffs unlike last summer. I am sure, we will play the strongest XI on Aug 4 & play second XI on Aug 5. It will be a great preparation against a tough Real Madrid side ahead of PL season.

From Bayerns site:

Hosts FC Bayern and Spanish giants Real Madrid will be joined by AC Milan and Premier League high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur for the tournament at the Allianz Arena on 4 and 5 August 2015. :playful:

The semi-finals have also been arranged: Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur open the Audi Cup 2015 on Tuesday 4 August at 18.15 CET. German champions FC Bayern then take on AC Milan at 20.45. The losers meet in the match for third place on Wednesday 5 August at 18.15, before the winners contest the final at 20.45.

Looking forward to this no doubt it will be on ITV4 or Sky Sports (hopefully not BT though :cautious:)

Kinda odd they didn't put Honda on there given he's probably got more worldwide recognition. AC Milan are an absolute mess though, need to sort themselves out properly.

Nicely done for a Bayern and Madrid final. There was never going to be a Bayern Madrid semi was there.

Its will be great to see, its hardly a competitive tournement and will get the players a run out, I see nothing wrong with it. Will see line ups like we did in Australia and Malaysia.

Some of you guys need to try to see the bright side of things every once in a while.

I just find it very strange that after a season where both our management and many of our fans have complained about there being too many games, that we are happy to line up two games in the few days before we actually start our season.

I'm all for playing some exhibition games and I'm all for making money where it's possible, and it will be great to see Spurs against some of these teams.

But if we in any way look tired in the first game of the season because the squad have all flown out to Germany and played a game or so each in the week before that first game, then it already reduces our chances of playing the likes of Bayern and Real regularly in the Champions League.

If it was a week earlier, or even on the weekend before the first day, then there would be little issue at all, but three days before our first game of the season? It's just not very clever.

Well I suppose the last time we spanked a European power house Rafa was manager. Although he'll have Bale on his side this time!

I don't disagree that the timing could be better. A week earlier would seem ideal, but it's not and it's not all doom and gloom!

What a fucking disgrace. Absolute shambles.

No pre season tour. Travels from England to America to Germany a beginning a week and a half before the season starts and ending 2 days before the season. Classic Levy.

Much rather go on tour and be back in England a week or 2 before the season.

And it comes less than a week after our trip to America to play the MLS allstar game on July 29.
