Oh well moving on. I don't think it's the end of the world if we don't get Willian and he goes to Chelsea as I think we have other options.

We have options on the wide spots with Chadli, Lennon and Townsend. If we get Lamela we will be even stronger there.

Without Willian we are a tad light down the middle with only Holtby and Siggy and we lack a little flair and creativity.

But there are other creative ACMs available like Adem Ljajic (reported €12m buy out clause), Christian Eriksen (reported 1 year left on contract) and Miralem Pjanic (might be difficult if we get Lamela as AS Roma probably will not need to sell any more players or reduce their wage bill any further) and all 3 are younger than Willian.

I think we need to get Lamela wrapped up and then move quickly on Ljajic, Eriksen or Pjanic (plus getting a CB, possibly a LB and getting Halilović wrapped up for next season).

Hmmm, no willian and bale deal on hold. Is that because Levy is now saying "erm...right it's now 93 million and we're now also going to need you to throw in a winger...."

I'm a little disappointed that Willian has changed his mind and decided to go to Chelsea. He would have been sensational for us, but we move onwards and upwards. Great signing for Chelsea, although I have no idea where he will play. I just hope Utd deny them Rooney.

I'm also very disappointed to read Mourinho's comments. I always thought he was an arrogant nob, but also a respectful manager. These comments have changed that and lowered my opinion of him considerably. There are plenty of other fish in the sea though, particularly those shaped like Griezmann, Eriksen and Bekkali.

Hopefully we tie down Lamela soon, keep Bale and finish above Chelsea. That would be a beautiful end to this story.

We don't need a number 10 either in my opinion. We need a right footed playmaker capable of playing on the left and drift inside. I'm sure the majority of games we will play 4-3-3.

I am not looking at statistic but I watch Ajax quite often and Eriksen moves the ball faster and his passing is more accurate and ball control is much better. Siggy look like a lost soul in our set up... he loses the ball and hold up the play when he should release the ball in open play. I mean he is a hard working lad but this is not the no.10 we need.

All those things can be better when you have far more time on the ball. Sig is playing in the fastest and most intense league in the world. If he went to the Dutch league right now, he'd feel like he had hours on the ball to pick a pass, or control it. I'd bet he'd start looking super accurate with his passing and also great on the ball as he runs past defenders that aren't on the same top physical level as PL defenders.

Even players like Silva commented when they first came over here that you have no time on the ball and have to think what you are going to do with it before it even comes to you. You have no idea how Eriksen will adapt to that, when he has plenty of Ajax games where he does next to nothing.

To be honest, its not that we have lost out on Willian that has me peeved, but the fact that we were exposed publicly in how did conduct this deal. This was confirmed by Mourinhos mocking and smug comment about not doing medicals before contract is signed i.e. we were amateurish in our attempts now we are playing with the big boys. Those on RAWK, Red Cafe, Arsenmania etc must be having a field day at our expense. Lessons learned I hope.

You're taking it a bit personally I think. We did the deal as it played out. We did the medical while still negotiating the finer points, it happens all the time. Nothing follows a set specific path, especially a negotiation with so many parties involved.

Hello all,
I've being keeping a close eye on the board over the past two years and have finally decided to make my introduction. I'm a spurs fan over 30 years and regularly attend games at the lane. This has been an utterly fascinating TW so far and you all have kept me sane as I've had to look after a 1 year old at home the last two weeks.
I'm coming around to Bale going (it seems everyone is saying so , despite what some ITKS say) and I'm certain AvB, DL and FB all have a plan. GB has been wonderful for us. He's going to a complete circus, but good luck to him if he chooses that. We've had better players before him that have gone and I'm sure we will have more in the future to grace the Lane. One thing is for certain, the Spurs will go marchin on!

Got to say this willian business throws up why we need to be careful how much we badger the ITks. 'You should do your medicals in secret' may seem a crass statemeent by tithead but when we are yearning for the elusive 'first to know' info, posting such on these forums can be dangerous, as proven by Ryan? and his Suarez piece, journos do come on here to fish for news. The ITKs have to be really careful how much info they post just for this reason. Anyhoo after our last game, I thought the players have gelled really fast and that bodes well. COYS!!

Are you aware of who his Willians agent is?

Wouldnt suprise me if he had told the Daily Mail when and where to photograph Willian to and from his medical.

You'd also be pretty naive to belive that his agent still wouldn't be trying to whore him out to every club at the last minute.

Stuff it, I'm getting desperate, let's blow £45m on Suarez and give him a free attacking role.

It really needs to be said dozens of times before people realize that the number of alternatives that we can sign in one week is very limited.

Pjanic: Roma will not sell him on top of Lamela. They've already sold Osvaldo. They're fans would be furious beyond belief. His agent has already said he will not be moving anywhere this window.

Ljajic: Has made it clear he wants a move to Milan and completely controls his own destiny with a contract that is running down. There is no chance we sign him.

Mata, Ozil, Reus, Draxler: None of them will be sold, and certainly not to us, of all clubs.

Griezmann: Apparently has a massive release clause, but Sociedad are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League and have no need to sell him on. There is no way they sell him before they've qualified late next week. It is highly unlikely that we could do a deal for him at this stage.

Pastore: Will be outrageously expensive, on big wages, and likely wouldn't leave a mega-club like PSG to move to a Europa League side. PSG have no need to sell and if they did, numerous teams like City, Arsenal, and United would line up with big offers.

Eriksen: Really the only one who is attainable, in my view. Ajax are reasonable and will sell him, but the issue is whether he would want to join us. He can stay at Ajax, where he's happy, and engineer a move to a Champions League club for next summer. Ajax also know we are desperate, and will likely want more money than many here think (I would guess at least 12 million pounds, may more).

Maybe there is a surprise or two out there for us. Maybe if we're real desperate late in the window, we'd ask Hamburg about whether they want to dump Van der Vaart to save on his wages? Or maybe AVB can convince Hulk to take a pay cut and come to us?

Either way, it's going to be a hectic 10 days.

Joe Cole?

I reckon this was all sorted a week ago.

Mourinho wants him, lets Roman know, find out Spurs are after him, taps up Kia and hatches a plan to get Anzhi to let them know at the very last moment as they'll pay top whack.

Let Willian know the day before, so he can't let anything on, 'best agents in the world' tweet.

Fuck Spurs over, sit back and think your Billy Big Bollocks again.

If I knew I could guarantee signing a player, I'd try it...

I think the reality is Kia has done well, he shopped our bid to Chelsea and got his client a better deal. Kia will also continue to get top players under his management as he has consistently managed to get his players to top clubs and on good contracts...he is clearly very good at his job.
