and he'll come back massively overweight if he ever does. hasn't progressed the way i'd hoped when he first came on to the scene. would look to offload him to stoke too and bring in someone fresh or promote from within

The player has generally been picked when fully fit by Harry. Hard to understand such generalised comments when he has played very few minutes this season. Lets wait and see.

Completely disagree with pretty much all of that. The weight issue is a myth. He used to have a problem with it, but he's since shown he can keep it under control.

As for not progressing the way you hoped? He's made a lot of progress since he came on to the scene. What were you hoping for? That he'd improve his spacial awarenenss? That his fitness would get better? That his passing would continue to develop? All the things that he's made progres in over the last couple of seasons?

But yeah let's offload him to Stoke. Can't see why we'd possibly want to retain the services of a young player that helped us to get 4th place, and is widely seen as a very gifted footballer.

Hudd is a great player to have in the squad. With Parker or Sandro alongside him, he'd be able to focus on his game...creating chances and spraying the ball about, which he is capable of doing superbly.

Gutted that he's had an injury set-back, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I don't see Huddlestone as having a weight problem his just naturally big...sure his body fat percentage/bmi is well within his/clubs target range.

What a shame he needs another operation...really hope he comes back strong this time.

No matter people's reservations about him, I have a few myself, he still played more than anybody in the 09/10 season.

I wish him well and a speedy recovery, he's still a good option and has a role in this current squad to play. For instance at home if we are chasing the game he's still a great weapon to have if we want to really go on the offensive, ie Modric and Hudd centrally.

Feel for him but current he's our 4th choice CM. He's a good player, but not a great one. Teams that give him space get punished, but in a quick, tight game, he can go missing.

This is just bollox. The guy is just a big unit, but he trains hard and looks absolutely cut whenever he takes his shirt off.

In a way I am glad that it has been diagnosed as the ankle not being right, because he looked sluggish when he came back last season, obviously the ankle was giving him problems and he did not have the ability to move freely on it.

I think we may see Hudd leave next Summer and to be honest I wouldn't be too disappointed.

There is no doubt that he has great ability and his range of passing is very impressive. However I'm not sure that he really uses this range of passing to great effect. Yes he can play a fantastic cross-field ball but he rarely does it quickly enough to actually create a great deal of space. Similarly he rarely gets the ball into the strikers feet (something that Carrick used to be excellent at and something Modric does very well) and he rarely carves defences open with his passing.

On top of that you can't ignore the fact that he's not as mobile as you'd expect from a Premiership midfielder. He can't go past people and he rarely creates space for himself, and his defensive positioning isn't good enough for him to play that role either.

All of that makes it sound like I think he's rubbish which isn't true. I think he'd flourish in a team built around him but that won't happen at Spurs. Parker and Sandro are much better on the defensive side of things and Modric is obviously in a different class going forwards. Coupled with the versatility of Pienaar and Kranjcar (something that Hudd doesn't have) I'm not sure where he fits into the squad.

Surprised its taken this long - after the Hearts away game you could see he was not walking right, why he was risked I don't know, should have worked out that all was not right.

Could be a blessing in disguise though. With Sandro back we are looking okay in central midfield, but by the time Hudd is fit people could be needing a rest and he can come in with fresh legs and mind.

He's not fat, he's not even overweight, he just has very poor agility which means he is slow accelerating. Maybe once his ankle is better they can get him some work with a sprint coach because I think he has it in him to be a half yard to a yard quicker if he just altered his running style and posture.

Whatever way we deem Huddlestone's worth to us, it's a big blow to the lad and hopefully he can come back from it sooner rather than later.

Having said that, on the playing front, it doesn't make a huge impact and the wider picture is that he is someone who is very much expendible and if a decent offer came in for him then I wouldn't hesitate in letting him go and try to establish himself as a first team regular at a mid-table Premier League side.

When fit he fits in on the bench at the moment, simply put. There will be a lot of different views on this but I'm willing to wager that if he recovers properly from the injury, this time, he's still very much part of the Club's future.

He clearly hasn't been fit since the start of the last season and naturally that will shape people's present judgement a bit (not you TSH )

We are so strong at the moment, Livermore effectively takes his place on the bench now, we won't really miss him too much but he'll still be a very good option if he can rid the injury properly this time.

Our central midfielders now until January will be Parker, Modric, Sandro, Livermore, which is a little light especially if injuries and suspensions affect these guys.

We've now lost Jenas, Palacios, Huddlestone and O'Hara who can play there and the only addition has been Parker. Whilst I agree that our squad was bloated, it would appear that we may have cut back a little too far.
